I personally worked on Spec System, a management system for the main data structures used by Optum One; FMConsole, an application that provides job management and reporting capabilities; Quality Gates Analyzer (QGA), an application that provides tools to analyze data; and Synonym Manager (SynMan), a tool that manages mapping codes between controlled vocabularies. All four applications are built using Grails, Groovy, Javascript, jquery, Spring, and SQL among other technologies. • Participate in daily standups, release planning, and sprint retrospectives as part of an Agile development process. • Develop bug fixes and new features for the applications in response to user and QA feedback. • Work closely with the QA team and the applications’ users in order to ensure the best quality release. • Make any necessary changes to the SQL schemas used by the applications ### Treasurer @ Quest Interactive Productions Jan 2011 – Jan 2016 ### Junior Engineer @ WiserTogether, Inc. The application is housed in over a dozen Git repositories, and is built using Python, Javascript, backbone.js, Chiropractor, Handlebars, and SQL among other technologies. • Participate in all aspects of scrum as a member of the development team: Help plan the two week development sprint cycle, groom the backlog of features to implement, and give feedback at the end of each sprint to improve our process • Develop new features for the application, including all back end and front end changes necessary to support them • Create documentation, release notes, and automated tests for all new features and bug fixes • Configure automation tests to run in Travis CI, a continuous integration platform. • Monitor and identify the causes of all test failures, then manage who on the development team is responsible for fixing any broken tests. • Investigate new technologies that could improve the development process and document the investigation results • Demo the new features and bug fixes to the company at the end of each two week development sprint cycle ### Junior Web Developer @ TipTap Inc. Jan 2013 – Jan 2014 | Cambridge, MA Ruby on Rails Applications The Personality Test application presented the user with a series of image selection tasks, then calculated the user’s personality based on the images selected. The MotiveMetrics application allowed researchers to integrate TipTap’s image selection tasks with surveys they’d built through Qualtrics, a third party application. Both applications were built in Ruby on Rails and hosted in AWS. • Design and implement the application code on both the front end and back end • Integrate the applications with both the TipTap Lab API and the Facebook Application Center • Routinely update the application code in response to changes in requirements. Other Projects TipTap maintained a company website, as well as websites for Atlas Outdoors and Atlas Construction. In order to assist their research team, they also initiated several data collection projects. • Design and create the website for Atlas Construction using MODX, HTML, CSS, and Javascript. Update all three websites in response to changes in requirements. • Retrieve thousands of publically available user profiles and Twitter streams using Ruby and the Twitter API • Fetch and re-format data from a PostgreSQL database according to researcher specifications.
