# Leo Calderas > Full Stack Developer & Artist Location: Brooklyn, New York, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/leo My passions revolve around education, storytelling, music, film, web development, and other technologies that are rooted in visual/aural media. I am openminded and unafraid to delve into different areas of work with the goal of improving the way we all deliver, receive, work with, and enjoy information in the form of audiovisual communication and entertainment. With a B.S. in Computer Science & Engineering and a B.S. in Comparative Media Studies from MIT, I've had a lot of practice with building experiences for others in the forms of websites, videos, music, illustrations, and more. I have a strongly optimistic and level-headed mindset that every problem has a solution, and I enjoy being creative in finding those solutions no matter how daunting the task. I am disciplined and self-motivated to do as best a job I can in all areas of my life, while remaining forgiving and resilient when failure inevitably does happen. Working productively and efficiently while remote is something I am very comfortable with, since I worked remotely for a year before the pandemic. I'm an organized guy and I've figured out the practices that work best for me. I am comfortable leading, listening, debating, creating, documenting, and adapting. I've got a curious mind and a passionate soul, and I'm eager to work with others to make the world a better place for everyone. ## Work Experience ### Senior Software Engineer @ User Interviews Jan 2023 – Present | Los Angeles, California, United States ### Software Engineer @ User Interviews Jan 2021 – Jan 2023 | San Francisco, California, United States ### Lead Software Engineer @ KTBYTE Jan 2017 – Jan 2020 | Greater Boston Area I designed and built internal staff tools as well as a live online classroom platform for students and teachers to respectively learn and teach computer science. I worked on the front end hands-on with React, CSS, and WebSocket communication. I worked with Java on the backend. I participated heavily in planning and designing user interfaces, feature sets, writing documentation, as well as managing remote engineers. I spent a year working remotely before the pandemic hit, so I am very comfortable, productive, and efficient when it comes to working remotely. ### Restaurant Host @ PAGU Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Greater Boston Area Being a host isn't a game. It takes mindfulness, patience, appreciation, understanding, and quick thinking to perform this role smoothly. One has to have the ability to welcome, seat, and listen to guests with a radiant and comfortable smile while all hell could be breaking loose on the side of the restaurant that guests can never know about. It's possible guests will never speak about or remember a wonderful restaurant experience, but they will ALWAYS remember and share experiences where something as small as just one tiny speck of debris on their menu ruined their evening, so the host has to make sure nothing like that happens. Lastly, this role requires being able to stand forever. All in all, I think I did a good job in all of these areas. ### Software Engineer Intern @ AOL Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 Learned about best Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment practices and tested a service designed to pipeline the process. ### Undergraduate Researcher @ Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 | Cambridge, Massachusetts Analyzed and visualized Microsoft Kinect data to uncover meaningful relationships between people and spaces in a hospital setting using Java. ### Web and Office Assistant at the Office of the Dean for Graduate Education @ Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Jan 2014 – Jan 2015 | Cambridge, Massachusetts Video and web work, including preparing online news items for the graduate community, filming and editing videos of graduate student events, and various office tasks. ### Assistant to Director of STEM Programs Intern @ i.am.angel foundation Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 | Los Angeles Helped local high school students prepare for the FIRST Robotics Competition and brainstormed hardware and software ideas for STEM promotion and education in underserved communities. ## Education ### Bachelor's degree in Computer Science & Engineering and Comparative Media Studies Massachusetts Institute of Technology Jan 2013 – Jan 2017 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/leopoldo-calderas - Website: https://www.leocalderas.com --- Source: https://flows.cv/leo JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/leo/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-20
