Company Mission:
The goal of Raise.me is to bring experienced educators and technology professionals together to reinvent financial aid and help close the achievement gap. Located in SF, supported by Imagine K12, the Gates Foundation, and Facebook.

My Role:
While at Raise, I worked side by side with CTO to execute and maintain all web engineering initiatives. I was the company's second engineer. Built a highly scalable "micro-scholarship" platform from the ground up, that allows high school students to create profiles of their academic and extracurricular activities and match them with scholarship awards from our college partners.

Our implementation included a custom web application (RoR), background processing server (Sidekiq), load-balancing and auto scaling infrastructure (AWS), push notification server (Node,js), email marketing solution (MailChimp), cloud based customer service solution (HelpScout), a myriad of third-party data integrations, home grown service APIs, customized deployment system, reporting sub-system, cloud based monitoring, and more. My partner and I evaluated and implemented technical solutions for all aspects of the business.

Technical Highlights: 
* Developed a highly optimized asset delivery scheme to our clients. Utilized Amazon CloudFront, S3, Rails asset pipeline, Sass, bower, and and variety of asset technologies.
* Managed large datasets in MongoDB; user generated, application generated, and third party generated.
* Devised a SOA to support discrete customer facing interfaces
