I work on the platform team for Autobidder, Tesla Energy's product for managing batteries connected to electric grids.

For scale, 100 megawatt-hours can power about 3000 American homes for a day. Autobidder controls hundreds of megawatt-hours of batteries that help meet the needs of electric grids around the world. Autobidder operates at every scale: from aggregating many individual at-home systems (Tesla Powerwalls) to 100MW+ utility-scale installations (Tesla Megapacks).

Autobidder-managed batteries charge and discharge according to the needs of the grid, enabling higher grid capacity, better grid reliability, and the introduction of more renewable energy sources.

* Technical lead of the Telemetry sub-team

* Improved access times of Voltus meter telemetry systems by 400x using FastAPI/Python, ClickHouse, and Kafka

* Established and implemented the canonical internal algorithm for accurately aggregated energy statistics

* Planned and executed zero-downtime migration of ~100 microservices from self-managed to managed Kafka on AWS MSK using MirrorMaker, Terraform, Nomad

* Consolidated multiple disparate processes into a unified Python service for real-time aggregation of energy data across energy markets

* Built Python package serving as ORM layer to tabular data sources (ClickHouse, Postgres, DataBricks Delta Lake)

* Implemented a push/pull based metrics architecture for instrumenting Scala code, passing statsd metrics through to internal observability platforms

* Built out the service layer for Resumable Workspaces - allowed notebooks to reattach to persistent volumes, decoupling the commit process from the lifetime of the workspace

* Worked in Scala, Typescript, React, Python, Kubernetes, Docker, and Shell
