- Simplified OAuth user verification using Passport.js to allow for seamless integration into the app and greater customizability of user verification strategies and routes while ensuring security of user data
- Built RESTful API in Node.js with Express to facilitate HTTP requests from the client and designed a large batch of middleware routes for account creation, authentication, and querying of local and external databases
- Implemented NoSQL architecture enabling the caching of data within a document store, minimizing external API calls, and providing support for the widest possible variety of data types
- Conducted all RESTful requests via a Node.js/Express server congruent with the middleware design pattern to modularize requests to the backend and simplify debugging with robust error handling 
- Enforced user verification with OAuth to minimize work required by user to enable storage of personal data, recognizing that an app performing a simple task should not require a robust user verification process
