As the sole Product Designer, I created and scaled the user interface, experience, and identity of Velocity— Code Climate’s core product. A one-stop-shop for engineering leaders to track their team’s insights, productivity, and workload.
Being one of the first products of its kind on the market meant that we had to start from the ground up. I was in a unique position to research and design an intuitive, effective user experience that delighted our users. The feedback we received from customers is that our overall design was a benefit when comparing to alternatives. We went from being used by small teams of less than 10 engineers, to enterprise-level companies, such as Slack and BBC.
Some additional responsibilities include:
• Collaborated closely with the engineering team to provide high-quality user experiences and design execution, while taking into account technical limitations.
• Worked with the product team to brainstorm, concept, wireframe, gain feedback, and rapidly iterate designs.
• Maintained a design library and worked to implement a design system to allow us to establish consistency across our product.
• Conducted user research, interviews, and competitive analysis. Then, using this information to map user journeys/personas, we were able to align with our users and the value we want to deliver.
• Partnered with Customer Success and Sales to discuss what is and isn’t working for our users, and how to improve those experiences.

Collaborated alongside a cross-functional team, designing digital experiences for IBM’s Cloud software. Together we interviewed users, researched competitors, wire-framed, prototyped, and iterated our designs. To keep our stakeholders engaged, we presented our process, concepts, and findings along the way.
Additional responsibilities at IBM Design include:
• Participated and facilitated in many design thinking workshops, that better-helped teams understand their users, product, and strategy.
• Designed IBM’s booth, marketing, and swag materials for conferences held worldwide.
• Part of IBM’s internal editorial/magazine team, All Things X.
• Introduced illustration to level up our interface, which created a more user-friendly platform.
• Participated in all phases of recruiting, including portfolio screenings, interviews, and final deliberations.
• Taught and participated in screen printing workshops in our Design Lab. A space for designers to get creative and make with their hands again.
