# Lucien Eckert > Software Engineer, Info Sci '23 @ Cornell University Location: Mountain View, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/lucien Hi! I'm Lucien, software engineer and recent graduate of the Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in Information Science program at Cornell University. Most recently, I've worked as a backend/platform engineer since mid-2023, maintaining Go and Python microservices built on both AWS and GCP, using tools like Kubernetes and Terraform to manage infrastructure. I've also spent a lot of effort participating in oncall rotations, to build up enough SRE muscle to ensure said services actually operate reliably in production. I also have two years of frontend development internship experience, working with mainly TypeScript and React, with a specific focus on implementing inclusive interfaces that work well with assistive technologies and comply with accessibility guidelines like WCAG2. I love working on engineering projects where I can get to really know the end user, and experience the rewarding feeling of seeing their reactions to prototypes, major milestones, or unexpected performance improvements! I also enjoy learning how miscellaneous programming languages and frameworks are designed, and work on game development projects in my free time. To see some of the personal projects I've worked on (mostly related to game development), check out my portfolio here: https://leckert.dev/ ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Stairwell Jan 2024 – Present | Mountain View, California, United States ### Platform Engineer @ Emerald Cloud Lab Jan 2023 – Jan 2024 • Worked as a backend engineer on the Platform team, maintaining a large database and various internal web services that support the cloud laboratory and development processes of scientists. • Implemented optimized and well-documented API endpoints using Go to enable faster retrieval and registration of scientific data for common use cases. • Designed and implemented an orchestration system for Mathematica kernels hosted in AWS Fargate. • Incorporated a custom linter for scientific Wolfram Language code as a continuous integration check on pull requests, using GitHub webhooks and Python. • Contributed to an on-call rotation to triage and fix critical issues during the 24/7 operation of the lab. ### Marketing Vice Subteam Lead @ Combat Robotics at Cornell Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 | Ithaca, NY • Spearheaded the project to re-design the team website through user research, an organized development process, and usability testing • Embraced a leadership role and planned semester-long timelines, ran work sessions and provided feedback to team members ### Marketing Subteam Member @ Combat Robotics at Cornell Jan 2019 – Jan 2022 | Ithaca, NY • Developed a promotional game themed around the competition we compete in to excite team members and chronicle the history of our robots • Worked towards improving the team's reputation and interest on campus, leading to an over 3x increase in recruitment interest from 2021-2022 ### Teaching Assistant @ Cornell Computing and Information Science Jan 2021 – Jan 2023 | Ithaca, New York, United States • INFO 3152: Introduction to Computer Game Development (January 2021 - May 2021, January 2022 - May 2022) • INFO 1300: Intro to Design and Development for the Web (January 2023 - May 2023) ### Software Developer / Project Manager @ AI-Learners Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 | Ithaca, New York, United States • Developed math and logic-focused educational web games with a focus on inclusive design • Used React and TypeScript to build a scalable frontend framework for games of various topics, skills • Took on a lead role within the team, planned projects and timelines, delegated tasks to other developers • Developed tools for users with assistive technologies like screen readers, adhering to WCAG standards ## Education ### Master's degree in Information Science Cornell University ### Bachelors in Information Science Cornell University ### Stuyvesant High School ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/lucien-eckert - Website: https://leckert.dev --- Source: https://flows.cv/lucien JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/lucien/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-05
