Responsibilities include watching and assessing feature-length works, providing detailed written evaluations, identifying standout titles, and contributing early insights to support the programming team’s selection process.

As a Screener for the acclaimed Mill Valley Film Festival—one of the longest-running and most respected film festivals in the United States—I review feature-length documentary submissions to assist the programming team in curating a dynamic and high-caliber lineup. My responsibilities include:

• Watching and evaluating international and U.S.-based documentary features with attention to narrative structure, emotional resonance, cinematography, editing, sound design, and overall impact

• Writing structured reviews that include a brief synopsis, highlights of standout elements, constructive notes on areas that fell short, and a final recommendation

• Identifying artistic intent, cultural relevance, and thematic originality within each project

• Assessing technical quality and storytelling effectiveness in relation to the festival’s standards of excellence

• Supporting programming decisions by offering in-depth critical commentary and contextual insight across a wide variety of styles and subjects

This role draws on my extensive background in documentary critique and film analysis, as well as my commitment to championing diverse, meaningful, and visually compelling storytelling.

Actively engaged in the film festival world through programming support, pre-screening, and story development work. Currently serving as a paid as well as volunteer pre-screener for Feature Film, Short Film and feature-length documentaries at Festivals such as the Mill Valley Film Festival, Cordillera International Film Festival, Heartland International Film Festival, YKIFF, Santa Fe International Film Festival, Atlanta Film Festival, evaluating films and scripts based on narrative structure, emotional impact, directorial execution, and storytelling strength.

Completed professional training in film directing through the Director Path program at Sundance Collab, with additional studies in scriptwriting and script analysis.
