Responsible for scaling and managing teams of SWEs, SREs, and DBAs as the first manager in Platform. Led a mix of backend engineering, site reliability, product, and developer productivity teams for a rapidly growing org, while ensuring the performance and stability of user facing systems.

* Hired and managed the IoT team, responsible for services providing real-time communication, remote configuration, and firmware/package updates for Motive hardware devices running in vehicles. Partnered with stakeholders across Product, Hardware, and Embedded teams to define requirements and the roadmap. Worked closely with engineers on the design and release of the original stack.

* Managed the Freight Marketplace eng team to launch the Motive Smart Load Board. Partnered with Product and led the engineering team consisting of backend engineers (Go + RoR), frontend (Angular), Data Science, and QA.

* Hired and managed the first SRE team, which built and maintained all AWS infra. The team also rolled out the first K8s infra to support the migration to Go services.

* Hired and managed DBAs who oversaw all org databases, primarily Postgres and RDS.

* Managed a team of 5-7 full-time Software and Test Engineers doing front-end and full stack web development, along with several contractors, and project based offshore contracting teams.

* Lead a migration from legacy front-end tech stacks based in Ruby on Rails (v2), Flex, and Drupal, to more modern and maintainable stacks built on React and Jekyll with Java and Rails on the back end

* Built and managed products using React, Ruby On Rails, Jekyll, Ember, Backbone, Flex, Capybara, Selenium, TestCafe, CasperJS, Java

* Hands-on with Test Engineers to build and maintain our CI and release pipelines in Jenkins

* Managed all personnel resourcing

* Maintained continuity and stability for the business while rapidly re-staffing the full-time team and securing short-term contractors

* Lead the Engineering Services Architecture team tasked with improving the development experience at Blurb and building solutions for problems that fell outside the scope of other teams.

* Continually improved and maintained many of our build and release pipelines in Jenkins, moving time consuming builds into AWS to scale our build system.

* Worked with TechOps to create a push-button, full-environment creation system that provisioned and deployed the entire Blurb test/production environment with every server and database. Leveraged Puppet, Capistrano, CloudStack, Ruby, F5 Big-IP API

* Created an integrated translation system with Github, Gengo Jenkins, and Ruby such that a pull request comment of, “Jenkins please translate this”, resulted in in-place translations being committed to the PR
