As a Black Scholar at USF, I’m part of a community dedicated to academic excellence and social justice, which fuels my drive to contribute meaningfully to both my field and community. With my background and experiences, I’ve developed a diverse skill set in areas like coding, team collaboration, and project design. I enjoy working with people and bringing ideas to life through both technical and creative solutions. Outside of my studies, I value mentoring, community involvement, and the opportunity to connect with others in ways that are impactful and meaningful. I’m excited about exploring new opportunities to apply my skills, grow, and collaborate with like-minded individuals passionate about using technology to make a difference. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer Career Prep Fellow @ Management Leadership for Tomorrow Jan 2025 – Present ### Event Coordinator @ Association for Computing Machinery @ USFCA Jan 2025 – Present ### Executive Board Internal Vice President - USFCA Chapter @ NSBE Professionals | National Society of Black Engineers Jan 2025 – Present ### Instructor Assistant @ Kode With Klossy Jan 2025 – Present As an Instructor Assistant for two Kode With Klossy Code-A-Bration programs, I supported fast-paced, two-day coding experiences that introduced high school girls and gender-expansive youth to the fundamentals of web development and machine learning. Each event brought together diverse groups of first-time coders, and my role centered around creating a welcoming, inclusive, and empowering learning environment where every participant felt confident and capable. I helped facilitate hands-on workshops covering topics such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and AI/ML using tools like Teachable Machine. I provided real-time troubleshooting, personalized feedback, and one-on-one support to help students build fully customized passion projects that reflected their unique identities and interests. From calming nerves to celebrating creative breakthroughs, I played a key part in ensuring students stayed engaged and excited throughout the entire experience. Between the two CodeABrations, I adapted my support style to meet each cohort’s pace and needs, whether that meant simplifying technical explanations, offering additional encouragement, or helping refine project ideas. These experiences deepened my skills in technical mentorship, instructional communication, and inclusive pedagogy. More importantly, they reinforced my commitment to making tech education accessible and joyful, especially for students who might not otherwise see themselves in STEM spaces. ### Peer Mentor- Summer Zero @ University of San Francisco Jan 2025 – Jan 2026 | San Francisco, California, United States Supported incoming engineering students through a 6-week bridge program focused on academic prep, mentorship, and community building. Led group discussions, shared personal insights on navigating college life, and helped first-years build confidence in STEM. Strengthened leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills in a collaborative learning environment. ### Student @ Kode With Klossy Jan 2024 – Jan 2024 | San Francisco, California, United States During this 2-week program I gained hands-on experience in AI and machine learning, along with collaborating on a fast-paced, three-day project to develop KlossyGal, a chatbot MVP. KlossyGal is an AI assistant that provides personalized makeup advice, such as blush placement and contouring, based on users’ face shapes. I worked on implementing a webcam-based feature for real-time face shape identification, ensuring seamless integration with the chatbot’s core functionality. Utilizing Python, I contributed to building the chatbot by incorporating tools like Hugging Face spaces for deployment and Gradio to design an interactive interface. The project required quick iteration cycles and creative problem-solving, allowing me to experiment with integrating machine learning models into user-friendly applications within a short timeline. ### Painter @ Stagecoach Greens Jan 2023 – Jan 2024 | San Francisco, California, United States - Designed and painted props, enhancing the visual appeal of a popular mini-golf course. - Collaborated with the design team to create props that matched themed areas and engaged customers. - Maintained a consistent and high-quality aesthetic that contributed to an immersive customer experience. ### Math Tutor @ Mathnasium - The Math Learning Center Jan 2022 – Jan 2024 | San Bruno, California, United States - Provided personalized math tutoring for over 200 K-12 students, adapting instruction for various learning styles and levels. - Utilized Spanish language skills to communicate effectively with 30 Spanish-speaking students, ensuring clarity and understanding. - Focused on foundational math skills and confidence-building, helping students achieve academic growth through supportive instruction. ### Student @ Girls Who Code Jan 2023 – Jan 2023 ### Student @ Kode With Klossy Jan 2023 – Jan 2023 | San Francisco, California, United States During the Kode with Klossy web development 2-week program, I worked as part of a team to build an MVP website. I was responsible for developing key components of the user interface, including structuring the site with HTML and styling it using CSS. I also contributed to making the website interactive by writing JavaScript for dynamic features. Throughout the project, I focused on ensuring the site was responsive, adapting to different screen sizes, and collaborated on troubleshooting and refining the user experience. Additionally, I worked on integrating various web elements and features, contributing to the overall flow and functionality of the website as we iterated and tested it toward completion. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Computer Science University of San Francisco ### Mills High School ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/manalfaisal --- Source: https://flows.cv/manalfaisal JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/manalfaisal/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-11
