Redesigned affiliate revenue cards which enabled the broad release of my previous work redesigning and streamlining features in the Yahoo Mail message view, leading to a net increase in revenue of 8.7% while improving the user experience.

Advised on Yahoo Mail’s design system by sharing android platform expertise, maintaining and organizing design files, contributing to the creation of components.

Continued role as design liaison to the Yahoo Mail Android engineering team. Attended sprint planning and standup meetings to identify and triage design needs and bugs, delegating or taking on tasks as needed to maintain product quality. Advised designers on our team about Android platform knowledge.

Advocated for accessibility best practices, and helped foster a culture of having features be “born accessible.” Volunteered to be mentored by the accessibility team to deepen knowledge of best practices and accessibility requirements. Joined the A11y Buddies program to be a resource and to educate other designers on how to approach designs for screen readers and large font layouts, especially on the android platform.

Transitioned from Yahoo Together to the Yahoo Mail team, quickly absorbing institutional knowledge and becoming a resource to other designers.

Juggled several projects at a time across multiple platforms, and delivered designs to ensure forward progress on multiple fronts.

Redesigned the message view in Yahoo Mail, streamlining visual elements and features into an improved, cohesive experience. Used user feedback, metrics, knowledge of past and current strategies to design, prototype and test designs in user studies to validate hypotheses.

Influenced the vision and strategy for the message view experience by facilitating discussions amongst product, design, and engineering leadership. Got buy-in from cross functional partners by using user research, design prototypes, and knowledge of Yahoo Mail’s systems, platforms, monetization and product strategy to propose specific changes to test. Carried project forward through multiple product manager staffing changes.

Transferred to a critical project already in motion, quickly onboarding and picking up critical tasks, making sure designs and developer implementation were executed to be in compliance with Europe’s EECC legislation. Offered multiple stages of design to meet deadlines while also optimizing the user experience for future implementation.

Ensured product quality and advised designers on platform knowledge as design liaison to the Android engineering team.

Brought insights from user research and past experience on messaging products to product and engineering leadership, influencing development of features for Together.

Lead design vision and strategy for messaging app Yahoo Together, implementing standards and process within project team, mentoring and giving assistance to junior designers.

Designed, prototyped and tested many key user flows and experiences in the app from inception to launch, working within constraints to solve problems.

Yahoo Messenger

Designed and launched a redesigned Yahoo Messenger app for iOS, Android, and Web with a 4 star app rating on Google Play.

Collaborated closely with the lead designer, and transitioned to lead designer in 2016 when he left the team. Mentored and onboarded new designers onto the project.

Moved project forward initiating decision-making meetings, iterating user flows based on feedback from cross functional team, validated designs with user testing, delivered within tight timeframes.
