Created a repository to manage OpenAPI specs and facilitate review. Added an internal documentation website (Swagger UI) to facilitate review, as well as a versioned NPM package with SDK’s, validators, and types - Extended routing capabilities to include 3rd party partners, ultimately achieving over 1 million 3rd party fulfillments while still maintaining a consistent API and patient experience - Consolidated internal service-to-service authentication strategy, moving to signed JWT’s and internal service identifiers - Built local k8s development environment, enabling complex cross-service testing without the need of cloud resources. Further, ensured management and implementation of this environment was as prod-like as possible - Created IaC platform empowering IC’s to self-serve infrastructure requests, while still maintaining centralized change control. Wrote case studies and gave internal workshops on best practices, e.g. service-to-service communication, secret management - Introduced application performance monitoring, including across microservices. Shipped proof-of-concept to production using simple open source tools. Created dashboards to gauge product success and find opportunities for improvement - Created and ran monthly Engineering technical talks - “Too Technical Tuesday” - with rotating speakers ### Principal Software Engineer @ Truepill Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 | San Francisco Bay Area - Created new services powering at-home Diagnostic testing, including lab specific adapters, a normalized domain, and a resource oriented API. - Grew Diagnostics engineering and product team from 0 to 10. Ran workshops and knowledge shares to efficiently onboard new engineers. - Launched multiple Diagnostic programs representing significant ARR - on track to 10x that early 2022. - Provided north star vision for microservices using Domain Driven Design and formalizing communication through service interfaces, with aggregation in its own layer. - Consolidated disparate API’s into one unified surface and created a strategy for ongoing abstraction improvements. - Redirected API efforts towards better abstractions, less ambiguous resources, and products rather than one-offs. ### Senior Full Stack Engineer @ LiveRamp Jan 2019 – Jan 2020 | San Francisco, California - Created and maintained systems to enable platformization of LiveRamp’s “Data Marketplace” product. - Built and open sourced TypeScript packages balancing performance and conciseness against team’s experience level (https://github.com/liveramp/typed-mutations, https://github.com/liveramp/higher-order-promise) - Defined architectural patterns and best practices to ensure robust, typed code and clear business logic. - Realized various performance increases via database optimizations and paradigm shifts, resulting in 50x speedups on critical user paths. - Lead quality and reliability initiatives to enable proactive resolution of escaped issues. - Mentored team members in various programming paradigms and practices. ### Engineer @ Credit Karma Jan 2017 – Jan 2019 | San Francisco Bay Area - Developed gateways to 3rd party services powering many features of Credit Karma's product, both user facing and from a data perspective. - Mentored engineers in adoption of functional programming techniques, and made sure patterns employed were understood by everyone responsible for the code. - Advocated and implemented best programming practices regarding data handling and resilience, such that our business logic was both readable and statically verifiable. - Created and maintained a stable test environment, training members of the team on how to use it to ensure their newest features integrated well together. This environment was largely self-service allowing members to spin up staging servers on demand. - Implemented and launched the back end for the Savings product, which included keeping 20+ people aligned and synchronized. ### Engineer @ Captain401 Jan 2016 – Jan 2017 | San Francisco Bay Area - Full stack role using Node.js, React.js, and Golang. - Created dockerized environment to make staging work simpler and deploys more predictable. - Worked on various integrations, including Salesforce. - Partnered with other departments to create tools to better empower them. ### Senior Backend Engineer @ Sparkcentral Jan 2015 – Jan 2016 Sparkcentral is a business-to-business SaaS that wants to move customer support from traditional channels like the phone to social channels like Twitter. Our platform allows our clients to set up and administer teams of customer service agents, and offers these agents a simple interface to solve customer problems, as well as communicate with each other and share information. To put a more technical slant on it, we're making support non-blocking. - Grokked (not a small feat) and improved legacy systems. - Analyzed code efficiency, ultimately realized up to a 10x speed increase in certain systems. - Migrated functionality to microservices. - Analyzed and implemented new features. - Fixed client problems/concerns - Analyzed, cleaned up, and normalized historical data for reporting purposes - Produced, refined, and automated high priority deliverables ### Full Stack Developer @ Shnaap Jan 2013 – Jan 2015 | Marina Del Rey, CA Shnaap was a social photography website that sold photography, allowing media outlets and similar to legally use our users photography. Shnaap no longer exists. - Developed prototype website (login, view, comment, like photos). - Took over API development (PHP), ultimately replacing Laravel with Epiphany (a micro framework that let us iterate faster and was less dependency heavy) - Added image normalization (web friendly sizes, both in terms of KB and dimensions) and parallelized it, reducing our normalization time from around 15 seconds originally to around .5 seconds on very cheap hardware. - Added admin panel for site moderation, including creation/deletion of users and photos. (Angular.JS) - Worked with web developers to rewrite main site (again, Angular.JS). - Added image analysis (brands in image, colors, objects) to assist in auto categorization and search. ### Co-founder / Developer @ Epicenter AV Jan 2011 – Jan 2013 | 435 Ellice Avenue - Developed a control system for AV matrices that exposed a control API. - Developed a mobile app to display current system status as well as change channels, see what's playing, and see what's coming up next. - Added an admin config section with driver support so as to support different hardware. ### Developer @ BookedIN Online Scheduling Software Jan 2012 – Jan 2012 Working on a public-facing website in an Agile environment, featuring unit testing, UI testing, code reviews, and all that other stuff we learned is the bee's knees. Technologies employed thus far are a heavy helping of jQuery, and 50 cc's of Google App Engine. ### Developer @ City of Winnipeg Jan 2011 – Jan 2012 | Winnipeg, Manitoba Jack-of-all-trades type developer position. Now extremely part-time. So far: Enhanced and maintained an internal data-gathering website (Ruby on Rails) Configured a virtualized Rails server from scratch to host the above temporarily Enhanced an existing map tile-server to be more aesthetically pleasing and display better information. Fixes included scaling things properly via zoom level, finding a better source of data, adding land features like rivers, and thinking up creative new ways to place labels such that they don't look disastrous. Worked on a general API exposing user-configurable combinations of HR data from PeopleSoft ### Co-founder @ Digihedron Jan 2010 – Jan 2012 Developed iOS applications and performed contract work for local businesses. Currently working on Epicenter, an AV management solution for the hospitality industry. ### VP Communication @ CS Games Jan 2011 – Jan 2012 | Winnipeg, Manitoba Volunteer position which consisted of handling all facets of the website and providing a point of contact for participants and interested parties to get in touch with the Games.
