# Matthew Chang > Startup -> Modern Corporate -> Old School Corporate -> AI (Of course its AI, what did you think it'd be in this current tech climate?) Location: Oakland, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/matthewchang I am very interested in how organizations can collect data in a seamless manner and derive meaning from this information. I enjoy the creation of these tools for data driven organizations and the interesting insights that may be gained from this type of instrumentation. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Abacus.AI - Formerly RealityEngines.AI Jan 2019 – Present | San Francisco Bay Area ### Principal Member Of Technical Staff @ Oracle Jan 2018 – Jan 2019 | San Francisco Bay Area Worked on a new initiative to bring Fusion Applications to modern infrastructure. Helped modernize operational procedures and monitoring, enabling log aggregation with searchable metadata as well as push for CI/CD inspired procedures for a largely legacy system. Worked on key lifecycle events that enabled the upgrade of Fusion Applications as well as the scaling of the underlying infrastructure. ### Software Development Engineer @ Amazon Web Services Jan 2017 – Jan 2018 | San Francisco Bay Area Helped drive new initiatives within a secret project to unify and simplify development paradigms and enable greater developer velocity. Worked on yet another logging ingestion framework to pull in data from various clients into a centralized data warehouse. Developed new abstractions for testing our user experience and rapid prototyped stopgap interfaces to aid in QA as well as product research. ### Software Engineer @ Post Intelligence Jan 2013 – Jan 2017 Aided in Android development, bringing a prototype app to production ready. Improved the scalability of our impressions collections system as well as instrumenting it for near-realtime monitoring. Developed and deployed a custom publishing system allowing customers to schedule posts to be published sometime in the future, with integrations with our own content system as well as centralizing analytics information that was available from various APIs such as FB Page Insights. ### Intern @ Jana Jan 2012 – Jan 2012 | Boston, MA We have an internal dashboard for monitoring our product as well as our members and I have been helping in making it more streamlined and useful. We collect a lot of data about our product, but much of it is still hidden in our database, so I've been helping surface valuable data as well as the ability to react upon this data. ### Intern @ Jana Jan 2011 – Jan 2011 Developed a reporting system for displaying data in an easy to use fashion for quick analysis. Allows for the sorting of collected data and easy results reporting for internal use and determining the quality of service. ### Intern @ Jet Propulsion Laboratory Jan 2010 – Jan 2010 Continued previous summer's work with the Deep Space Network. Developed a modular, multi-stage process for filtering data and displaying it on an internal page, allowing for future advancements to be made such as selective data visualization. On the side, I also worked with the International GNSS Service to develop a template for their events page. ### Intern @ Jet Propulsion Laboratory Jan 2009 – Jan 2009 Verification of new a data stream in preparation for its use on an internal dashboard for the Deep Space Network. Involved in working with UNIX servers and learning the AWK programming language. ## Education ### Electrical Engineering and Computer Science University of California, Berkeley ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/matchang - Portfolio: http://matthewchang.com --- Source: https://flows.cv/matthewchang JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/matthewchang/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-30
