# Matthew Kwong > Product & Motion Designer in SF searching for new opportunities | Passionate about all things tech and music Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/matthewkwong1 Hi, I'm Mathew! I’m a Product & Motion Designer based in San Francisco, dedicated to building user-centered digital experiences that bridge the gap between complex technology and intuitive design. With a background that blends Product Design/ UX, 3D, and motion graphics, I thrive on turning ambitious ideas into polished, high-performing products. Between 2020-2024, my career has been defined by a mix of high-growth startup environments and agency-level precision. However, in 2025, I decided to expand my design skill set and pursue a dream of mine to create 3D motion graphic stage visuals for concerts. Coming back to the workforce in 2026, I leverage tools like Figma, Cinema 4D, Blender, and AI tools like Cursor and Figma Make to create everything from scalable design systems to immersive 3D motion graphics. I am always looking for new challenges that allow me to create a tangible difference through design and technology. π—Ÿπ—²π˜'π˜€ π—–π—Όπ—»π—»π—²π—°π˜: 🌐 Portfolio: https://www.matthewkwong.com/ βœ‰οΈ Email: matthewrkwong@gmail.com ## Work Experience ### Freelance Product & Motion Designer @ Freelance Jan 2025 – Present | San Francisco Bay Area - Designed and animated self-directed 3D and 2D motion graphic projects, including music visualizers, album artwork, and promotional social media ads. - Commissioned to 3D model, animate, and export web-optimized assets using Cinema 4D and Redshift. ### Product Designer @ Toybox Labs Jan 2022 – Jan 2024 β€’ Led the design conceptualization of a groundbreaking digital subscription service, fostering a 95% retention rate through user-centric features and engaging experiences. β€’ Redesigned the search experience by including recommendations and auto-complete search query suggestions, increasing conversion by 7%. β€’ Enhanced the maintainability of the Toybox design system through a strategic redesign of over 100 Figma components by utilizing auto-layout, variables, variants, and properties features for modularity. The platform allows for the most personalized COVID-19 test near the patient, based on their preferences for insurance coverage, testing method, distance, etc. My website increases the accessibility of COVID-19 testing. Created as a direct response to the challenges of finding a COVID-19 test, Find My COVID Test was created from start to finish within 6 weeks during the Summer of 2020. The idea formed after my own struggles finding a COVID test. Although there are government websites that provide testing information, there is no easy way to immediately filter and find COVID testing that meets your medical background and personal preferences. To solve this problem, I designed an interactive prototype in Figma and developed the website using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Google Maps API, and Firebase. To populate the testing center database, I have hand checked over 300 testing locations in California for the relevant criteria being filtered. Since the release of Find My COVID Test, I have been able to positively impact the community by helping more than 3,000 people find COVID-19 tests in an average of 34 seconds. ### Design 157 - Web Design Tutor @ University of California, Davis Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 | Davis, California, United States Web Design tutor for Professor Mead's Design 157 class at the University of California, Davis. ### Design 112 - UI/UX Design Tutor @ University of California, Davis Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 | Davis, California, United States UI/UX Design tutor for Professor Mead's Design 112 class at the University of California, Davis. β€’ Led workshop demonstrations on how to use Figma and Adobe XD software β€’ Facilitated and engaged students in design critiques ### Director Of Design @ #include @ Davis Jan 2019 – Jan 2020 | Davis, California β€’ Supervised team of 10+ designers on website layout, user experience, and user interface for non-profit organization client website. β€’ Created and lead UI/UX, wireframing, and intro to Figma workshops to 30+ student attendees at the University of California, Davis. ### Intern @ Hack Club Jan 2016 – Jan 2017 | San Francisco Bay Area From August 2016 to April 2017, I interned at Hack Club, a non-profit organization in the San Francisco Bay Area that helps high school students start after noon coding clubs.
