Some examples of key achievements over my 8-year tenure:
•Led core frontend infrastructure initiatives, including the modernization of legacy forks to React Router
6 and Webpack 5, and the establishment of full-stack observability and performance monitoring to
drive data-driven UX improvements.
•Spearheaded foundational modernization to Python 3: Led and implemented the company-wide, multi-quarter migration from Python 2 to 3. Coordinated team of 7 (FTEs + contractors) to successfully upgrade our entire backend stack, unlocking modern performance benefits and long-term maintainability.
•Drove developer velocity by adopting a monorepo: Architected and executed the migration to a monorepo, implementing new build tooling and CI strategies, unifying our codebase and improving developer velocity.
•Led critical search platform rearchitecture: Co-led the re-architecture of our core search service, designing and implementing a new system to improve p90 performance by 10x, increase flexibility, and provide standardization across the querying API.
•Ensured business and legal compliance (CCPA): Led the end-to-end engineering initiative for CCPA compliance. Worked with internal and external legal counsel to translate legal requirements into a robust technical solution, building new services and reporting pipelines to ensure data privacy standards across the engineering organization.
•Owned greenfield product development (Rent Payments): Architected the complete backend for Zumper's inaugural rent payment system. Designed the core data models and built the foundational APIs from the ground up, establishing a critical new business vertical.
•Full-stack ownership and mentorship: Acting as a key technical advisor for both backend (e.g., Pydantic migration) and frontend (e.g., React Router upgrade from custom fork) platforms.
