Spearheaded implementation of key aspects of the platform around data management, security, log archiving, monitoring and platform automation through hands-on POCs, team spikes and consultation with AWS professional services. In addition to native AWS data services, added automation to support on-demand instancing of Datastax Cassandra clusters for time series apps and algorithms. Current work is focused on design and implementation of a multi-tenant data lake to connect on-premise customer and research partner devices (IoT) and other data sources with data scientists and machine learning to enable development of advanced diagnostics products. Platform is live now in the US and Seoul. ### Principal Software Architect @ GE Healthcare Jan 2014 – Jan 2016 | San Ramon, CA Cloud architect responsible for bringing next-gen medical imaging and clinical collaboration application to the cloud on the GE Predix platform. This project involved coordinating with several development teams globally to integrate a portfolio of existing and new applications and services onto the Cloud Foundry platform that was new to GE. Key accomplishment was to quickly come up to speed on the new PaaS platform, define an initial architecture and then refine it while getting a large multi-site development organization up to speed on it as well in time to deliver a non-trivial product demo at RSNA 2015, a major radiology trade show. Key technical challenges were overcoming the technical gaps in the initial platform and ongoing technical churn along the way. Worked very closely with our teams as well as the corporate platform team to pull off what was widely viewed by our management and customers as a very successful and exciting demo of GE Healthcare’s cloud strategy. ### Principal Engineer @ GE Healthcare Jan 2002 – Jan 2014 | Hillsboro, OR Platform and portfolio office architect responsible for platforming and interoperability initiatives covering a large and growing portfolio of hundreds of GE Healthcare IT products. During this time I worked with teams all over the globe on their multi-generational product plans to coordinate the adoption of new technologies as well as to identify opportunities to integrate or converge with other products and platforms in the portfolio. Spearheaded initiatives around service-oriented architectures, common service and data models, medical terminology and master dictionary management, healthcare industry standards including HL7, DICOM and IHE profiles. Championed interoperability standards and model-driven development methods to adopt them. Routinely developed POCs to retire technical risk and demonstrate opportunities for adoption of new standards and technologies. Participated in standards development activities, authored white papers, facilitated engineering engagements with 3rd party ISVs and provided technical due diligence business development activities. ### Senior Software Engineer @ MedicaLogic, Inc Jan 2000 – Jan 2002 | Hillsboro, OR Initially responsible for the design and implementation of the chart access audit features of a new web-based clinical documentation product. Product was a combination of a Java client and a web-based ‘chart room’ where physicians could collaborate around patient care. My role on this team quickly expanded to working closely with our QA and ops teams to make improvements to the core services to enable detailed logging, monitoring and error reporting features including incident reporting for errors experienced by client. We went from being reactive to proactive where an engineer would often be able to pinpoint precise error and push out a bug fix in time for customer support to not only reach out to customer, but have a solution in hand. ### Software Engineer @ CareFlow Net Jan 1998 – Jan 2000 | Morgantown, WV Joined a small 9-person startup to build an cutting edge internet-based medical transcription platform. Initially responsible for implementing a new web UI in ColdFusion, but responsibilities quickly expanded to designing and implementing high-availability features on back end-services to minimize downtime. Platform was successfully deployed to both large providers and national transcription services. Company was acquired in 2003 and is now part of MModal. ### Staff Engineer @ MSU Radiology Jan 1990 – Jan 1998 | East Lansing, MI Responsible for design, implementation and operational support of an in-house Radiology Information System (RIS), DICOM archive as well and integration with many 3rd party medical imaging systems (PACS). Responsible for operational support, planning expansion and upgrades of network infrastructure, IT systems, servers, databases and 3rd party software. Worked with radiologists to develop innovative applications for both clinical and research settings including a template-driven mammography reporting system and professional self-assessment tool enabling radiologists to compare their interpretive performance with peers. ## Education ### BS in Electrical Engineering Michigan State University ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/url4mattpotter --- Source: https://flows.cv/mattpotter JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/mattpotter/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-12
