I enjoy working tightly with Product and Developer Teams to help direct and inspire solutions that integrate the best of all three disciplines. ## Work Experience ### Senior User Experience Designer @ Microsoft Jan 2022 – Present | Bellevue, Washington, United States ### Senior UX Designer @ Amazon Web Services - Amazon Lightsail Jan 2015 – Jan 2022 | Greater Seattle Area Design owner and co-creator of Amazon Lightsail, a virtual server cloud product designed for individuals and small scale projects. Worked with product manager and leadership to conduct initial product research, ideate on product design and strategy to shape the highly successful product Lightsail would eventually become. Post launch, collaborated with product managers to determine new feature definitions and keep design goals consistently aligned to business goals and vice versa. Reduced complex cloud service concepts from external sources into simple, easily approachable features under the Lightsail experience brand. Earned buy-in from stakeholders via collaborative design activities, wireframes, and high fidelity prototypes. Conducted surveys, user interviews, usertesting and other user UX and product research activities to determine direction and validate designs and product concepts. Developed processes for collecting and processing user feedback in a structured, accountable way. Recruited and interviewed frontend engineers and worked closely with those engineers to bring designs to life. Created an extensible, reusable design language for Lightsail in service of our business goal of creating a “safe space” for small and independent users. Shepherded that language through design development, working with peer feedback and subject matter experts, through engineering implementation, guiding a team of 3 engineers and creating a reusable react-based component library. ### Lead UX Designer @ Amazon Silk Jan 2014 – Jan 2015 Led a team of two designers to maintain and eventually redesign Amazon Silk, the mobile browser on Amazon Fire tablets. Focused on redesigning the application with new infor- mation architecture and a refreshed visual aesthetic, with the goal of reducing friction and increasing discoverability for common tasks, and creating an extensible framework for later feature additions. ### Senior UX Designer @ Hulu Jan 2013 – Jan 2014 | Seattle Worked with a junior designer to redesign key components of Hulu’s television-based streaming applications. Created updated and improved UX for multiple versions of the product compatible with two dozen hardware manufacturers and several major device formats. Focused on new customer acquisition/signup flows and content wayfinding mechanics. ### UX Lead @ PopCap Games Jan 2012 – Jan 2013 | Seattle Designed new in-game UX for a new casual-mobile title in the Bejeweled franchise. Worked closely with game designers, illustrators, product managers, and engineering teams in a highly iterative, collaborative environment. Developed navigation models, in-app purchasing flows, messaging systems, gameplay control structures, and other critical aspects supporting the play experience through wireframes, documentation, and interactive prototyping via HTML and Javascript. ### Lead Designer @ Zynga Jan 2008 – Jan 2012 | San Francisco Managed two designers, one illustrator for a for a mobile casual game with 15 million daily active users spanning Web, iOS, and Android ecosystems. Assigned projects, managed schedules and workloads. Provided oversight, direction, and critical design feedback for my team as we added and improved features, reduced friction, and responded to the ebb and flow of user metrics. Successfully led and executed an IA redesign and visual refresh while bringing Android up to par with iOS version. Designed and prototyped UX/UI for teams and properties including PetVille, Treasure Isle, and Zynga Poker, focusing on novel mechanics, game IA and visual styling in concert with illustrators and game designers. Concepted and developed a gaming portal destined for launch on Zynga.com intended replace social media dependencies in the casual gaming space. ### Web Designer @ Livescribe, Inc. Jan 2007 – Jan 2008 Conceptualized, designed, and produced interactive promotional materials using interactive media to allow for rich experiences focusing on marketing the product to new customers. Implemented and extended the existing design and structure for the desktop website experience. Developed frontend HTML/CSS for production. ### Interactive Designer / Developer @ Screamstream Interactive Jan 2006 – Jan 2007 Designed and developed web and other interactive experiences for a diverse portfolio of clients, with an emphasis on advertising and promotional materials large and small. Focused on end to end design and production of promotional materials and applications from concept, through visual and interaction design, to execution using Flash, Actionscript, HTML/CSS and Javascript.
