As the Lead Product Designer, I led design efforts for many high-profile partnerships (Facebook, Messenger, Google, Samsung, and Baidu). I also managed several designers who focused on building products that weaved PayPal into new contexts (voice and conversational ui). Our team was awarded with several patents for our groundbreaking work. ### Coaching Committee Point and Team Coach @ Santa Cruz Derby Girls Jan 2013 – Jan 2016 | Santa Cruz, CA Overview: As the Coaching Committee Point I mentored and provided guidance to the league’s leadership team (board of directors, team captains, and fellow coaches). I also authored and contributed to key league policies and procedures. As a Team Coach I ran practices, bench coached scrimmages and games, facilitated team meetings, held assessments, and gave feedback. What I’m proud of accomplishing: With any full contact, competitive sport there are bound to be minor to major injuries. One of the contributions that I’m most proud of organizing and creating for the Santa Cruz Derby Girls was their emergency action plan and ambulance protocol. Every season the league experienced serious injuries and having well drafted plan allowed us to swiftly and cautiously handle these situations. What was unique about this experience: I was voted into the Coaching Committee during several extremely competitive seasons. I helped trained the travel team (the Boardwalk Bombshells) to compete at the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) Division Two Championships in 2013 and Division One Playoffs in 2014. Training athletes at this level of competition helped me further develop my interpersonal and communication skills. ### Head Coach @ Silicon Valley Roller Girls Jan 2008 – Jan 2013 | San Jose, CA Overview: As the Head Coach for this non-profit from 2008-2013; I oversaw the development of the training program and policies from the ground up. Through the development, implementation, and growth of a highly competitive training program, the Silicon Valley Roller Girls evolved from a grassroots roller derby club to an internationally ranked member league of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). Notable impact: Started the league’s peer-to-peer skill share program. The program empowered league members to share knowledge and build leadership skills. Something you may find interesting: I transformed the league’s original website into a responsive design based site. I used WordPress as a CMS so it would be easy to keep the website updated and simple to delegate administrative duties. ### Freelance UX/UI @ Variety of clients Jan 2010 – Jan 2011 Overview: After Sun was acquired by Oracle, I was approached with several freelancing opportunities and couldn't pass them up. I worked with a variety of freelance clients including a local non-profit, a Stanford based start-up, and an all-vegan bakery. Eventually I decided that I enjoyed working on multidisciplinary design teams more than freelancing and took a user experience design position at PayPal. ### User Experience Designer and Project Coordinator @ Sun Microsystems Jan 2006 – Jan 2010 | Menlo Park, CA Overview: Originally hired as a project coordinator, I quickly transitioned into supporting the Sun Partner division as a UX Designer when an opportunity arose. I performed internal heuristic evaluations and made design recommendations that supported design best practices and usability/accessibility standards. I also created interaction design and information architecture deliverables to support Partner Engineering quarterly releases. Favorite contribution: Redesigned call center administration tools, resulting in better efficiency and ease of use for call center agents. The redesign was based on interviews that I conducted with call center agents. ### Counselor II @ Transition House Jan 2005 – Jan 2006 | Santa Cruz, CA Overview: As a Counselor at Transition House I provided individual support and counseling to residents and program participants. I coordinated and facilitated house meetings, group counseling sessions, and community activities. ## Education ### Certificate in Web Design and Development University of California Extension - Santa Cruz ### Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management, General California State University, Monterey Bay ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/hellomegan --- Source: https://flows.cv/meganoneill JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/meganoneill/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-13
