I'm currently supporting Smartsheet UX as Sr. Product Design Director. As we grow the maturity of the UX (often shorthanded to "design") function and org at Smartsheet, I'm focusing on the need for growth in systems thinking, UX strategy, unified UX voice, design thinking, and all the pieces that take a company and product toward developing modern, truly equitable and inclusive, product experiences and internal UX communities.

Product Experience design work must make sense, be valuable, and be successful in a marketplace. It must make sense to and be successful with the people using the Products not just the businesses generating them. I've spent my whole career with that as my big, green highway road sign. (It's a really wordy sign.)

As an Experience Design Director & Leader of UX and Design Teams, I collaborate with product and related-discipline teams to define and align UX strategy. UX strategy must support user success as well as product strategy and disconnecting (or worse, not defining) those things leads to messy, sub-par product experiences. I work with and build design teams and provide them with the direction and support they need to do great work. I represent and strengthen the voice of product experience (UX) in strategic and practical partnership with product and development teams to the benefit of the product makers and the product users.
