# Mia Ketterling > Sustainability Strategy & ESG Leader | Building programs that connect business decisions to environmental impact | CDP · SBTi · 10+ yrs at Pinterest Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/miaketterling In 2016, I founded Pinterest's first employee sustainability community because I believed companies have responsibility for their environmental footprint, and I wasn't willing to wait for someone else to build that culture. Six years later, that conviction became my full-time role. As Sr. Global Sustainability Lead, I've built and led Pinterest's end-to-end climate program: setting Science-Based Targets, achieving 100% renewable energy, managing our annual GHG inventory, launching a supplier engagement program and driving our CDP disclosure. But the work I'm most proud of is driving organizational change. Getting engineering, workplace, and procurement teams to care about emissions reductions and act on them. Earning a seat in executive and board-level conversations. Building a supplier engagement strategy from the ground up. Before sustainability, I spent a decade producing complex creative and product initiatives — at Mekanism for clients including PepsiCo, Method, and Virgin America; at Apple on the iAd Creative Development team for P&G, and State Farm; and inside Pinterest's Product Design org. I know who needs to be in the room and how to bring people along to drive meaningful impact. ## Work Experience ### Sr. Global Sustainability Lead @ Pinterest Jan 2022 – Present | San Francisco Bay Area • Led Pinterest's full climate program: Science-Based Targets, 100% renewable energy achievement, annual GHG inventory (Scope 1, 2, and 3), and CDP disclosure • Built and drove emissions reduction initiatives across engineering, workplace, and procurement — translating environmental data into decisions that non-specialist stakeholders could act on • Developed Pinterest's supplier engagement strategy, extending the company's climate commitments into the value chain • Delivered executive and board-level presentations on climate risk, scenario analysis, and progress against targets • Founded and led PinPlanet, Pinterest's employee climate community — growing internal engagement and building a culture of environmental accountability across the organization ### Pinplanet Lead @ Pinterest Jan 2016 – Present | San Francisco Bay Area • Founded Pinterest's first employee resource group focused on environmental sustainability in 2016 — before sustainability was a formal function at the company • Grew the community from zero to over 600 members: building programming, recruiting volunteer leadership, and securing executive sponsorship across a 5-year tenure • Established internal sustainability advocacy that contributed to organizational readiness for Pinterest's later formal climate commitments • Operated entirely through influence — no direct reports, no dedicated budget — demonstrating the ability to drive meaningful change through stakeholder engagement alone ### Workplace Sustainability Manager @ Pinterest Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 | San Francisco, CA • Managed Pinterest's workplace sustainability operations: energy procurement, waste and recycling programs, and facilities-related emissions reductions • Identified and implemented emission reduction initiatives that contributed directly to Pinterest's 100% renewable energy milestone • Built the operational infrastructure and measurement systems that later supported Science-Based Target validation and CDP disclosure ### Program Manager, Design Experience @ Pinterest Jan 2018 – Jan 2021 | San Francisco Bay Area • Built a new program function within Pinterest's Design org — creating onboarding infrastructure, ongoing education, and community for a 100+ person team • Designed and ran Pinterest's designer onboarding program, reducing ramp time for new hires during a period of rapid team growth • Facilitated cross-team learning and peer mentorship that strengthened design culture and collaboration across the organization • Co-led community engagement initiatives connecting the design team to external volunteer and pro-bono opportunities ### Women's Conference Co-Chair @ Pinterest Jan 2018 – Jan 2021 | San Francisco Bay Area Co-chairing Pinterest's annual Women's Conference, and internal one-day event in our San Francisco, New York City and Dublin offices to provide the women working at Pinterest the tools and inspiration they need to create a life they love. ### Producer @ Pinterest Jan 2015 – Jan 2018 | San Francisco Bay Area Strategic and operational partner for Product teams, working cross-functionally to push design work forward. •  Managed complex, cross-functional creative and product initiatives — coordinating designers, engineers, and product managers to deliver on ambitious timelines across competing priorities •  Built operational clarity in ambiguous environments: prioritizing demands, managing stakeholder expectations, and driving decisions when teams were stuck • Developed fluency in how creative ideas get built, resourced, and brought to market ### Senior Producer @ Apple Jan 2012 – Jan 2015 Managing projects for the iAd Creative Development team. ### Producer @ Mekanism Jan 2010 – Jan 2012 Produced digital, live action, animation, print, radio, and mobile app projects for a variety of clients including Lipton Brisk/PepsiCo, Crocs, Method, eBay, Microsoft, truTV, and Virgin America.
