• Unify Scholastic’s digital assets into a single content management system and deprecate legacy third-party applications, the ultimate goal being that Scholastic business units have a shared resource for digital asset management, relieving the previous overhead of sharing digital proporty between business units, and ensuring that Scholastic has a persistent record of all it’s digital property in one system, rather than spread among many, often completely different, systems.
• Developed a suite of java spring applications dedicated to digital asset retrieval, import, metadata modification, versioning, and processing while being (mostly) agnostic toward the digital asset management platform (OTMM).
Transitioning Scholastic into a primarily in-house development shop, untethered to third-party systems with the associated licensing and consulting costs.
• Design and develop RESTful APIs to allow interoperability between micro services built by my team as well as to serve asset data to services built and maintained by other teams.
• Used TDD principles to drive our development processes (Cucumber/JUnit)
• Was a main driver in refining our CI/CD process, the goal of which was to mitigate the risk of cross-contamination between features set to be released and features in development while also maintaining a record of what stage of development a release is at, where the code lives, and where that code is deployed.
• Built and maintained an image delivery service which served over one million requests per month to external consumers.
• Collaborated with internal business users to learn their existing workflow for publishing marketing images and built a Java based service with an AngularJS based client to replace an archaic third-party system, saving the company licensing fees and empowering the users to more easily control their data.
