2019 — Now
At Patch Monkey, I guide our efforts to build human-centered software by leading conversations with our clients, designing applications and user experiences, and leading a small team of software engineers.
My primary focus over the years has been working on Prime Intelligence, an application that is modernizing the beef supply chain and providing users with the insights they need to make better decisions for their businesses.
Co-led the architecture and development of Prime Intelligence, Walmart’s real-time supply chain analytics platform, modernizing operations and automating critical workflows.
Built scalable ELT pipelines (Postgres), transforming records at scale to improve data quality and reporting accuracy.
Developed real-time dashboards and interactive charting systems (Rails, Turbo, Highcharts), reducing operational reporting time and enhancing data visibility for field teams.
Led frontend modernization efforts, introducing Tailwind CSS, component architecture, Rails's upgrades, and responsive design, ensuring mobile optimization and improving development velocity.
Designed and implemented a secure two-factor authentication system and SMS notifications with Twilio, enhancing platform security and user engagement.
Developed an internal testing framework for mocking database view data without having to build underlying records, and built several custom Rails generators, reducing test setup time and improving developer efficiency.
Mentored and grew a distributed engineering team through 1:1s, performance reviews, and process improvements, while also contributing to UX with Figma prototypes and brand/website development.
Partnered with early-stage startups as a product-focused engineer to help them navigate the critical early phases of growth.
I worked directly with founders and small teams to:
Translate early ideas into tangible, scalable products.
Drive product-market fit by aligning technical execution with customer insights.
Build MVPs with an emphasis on speed, usability, and iteration.
Advise on technical strategy and early architecture to set foundations for future scaling.
Through dwarnode, I blended hands-on engineering with product thinking to help startups move fast, learn quickly, and build better.
