# Michael Beadle > Mechanical Engineer - Innovator - LinkedIn Troll Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/michaelbeadle My secret superpower is taking quality control raw data, finding the source of the defect, and implementing corrective actions before most. Over 10 years, consistently finding solutions and unblocking ramps has led to most of my success. Hit me up if you're struggling to get moving again, I'll help you. Got AuDHD, and that means that I don't fit everyone’s mold, and I'm ok with that. The non-linear thinking and hyperfocus give me unique perspectives that lead to solutions and novel products. Love teaching and mentoring engineers about quality control, GD&T, and ways to utilize supplier data and corrective actions to help ensure their design makes it to market. Also provide prototyping and short run production for consumer electronics parts and enclosures. ## Work Experience ### Senior Mechanical Engineer @ Durin Jan 2025 – Present | El Segundo, California, United States ### Mechanical Engineer - TPM - Welder/Fabricator @ Durin Jan 2025 – Jan 2025 | El Segundo, California, United States Bringing automation and technological advancements in the rare earths prospecting and mining industry space. ### Lead Mechanical Design Engineer @ Redline Manufacturing Design Jan 2018 – Present | San Jose, California My background is very broad. This great team of folks is able to move fast and come up with multiple prototypes in record time. The supply chain is well oiled and provide great assistance to the engineering team. Can only say good things about working with this team. Can't wait for the next one! ### Lead Mechanical Engineer @ UnitX Jan 2023 – Jan 2023 | Santa Clara, California, United States Working with a world class team of software and hardware engineers to disrupt the world of quality control in hardware, electronics, automotive, batteries, and more bleeding edge hardware being produced for the future of mobility and electronics. ### Senior Mechanical Engineer @ Glowforge Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 | Seattle, Washington, United States Took this job thinking we would move to Seattle, but that wasn't the vibe in the office. Proved that hardware can be developed by teams in remote locations, and successfully launched. Designed multiple sheet metal parts, enclosures and ffc/FPC New plastic injection molded part to replace my hastily designed sheet metal part, solution reduced cost by ~$3/unit Updated a LOT of documentation for legacy information retention, as well as creating new drawings Assisted with on-site troubleshooting and engineering change requests with Contract Manufacturer ### Advisor @ Miravel Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 | Los Angeles Metropolitan Area Contracted for advising the engineering team on preparing for production, like making drawings, what GD&T is (not) needed, how to optimize for less material, what manufacturing processes to use, even down to where it should be assembled at its small volume. The team is now successfully launching this product in various new home construction sites across the US. Definitely a great team. ### Advanced Technology Engineer @ GoPro Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 | San Mateo, California, United States My bias toward action is what drove this team. Let's take the concerns of that RF engineer and test them, and find the limit. The seeds of making large heatsinks, improving battery technology, and reducing weight started in this group. We successfully developed multiple prototypes and proof-of-concept pieces that led to the Hero 11 mini, as well as developments soon to come. ### Tooling Project Manager @ GoPro Jan 2018 – Jan 2020 | San Mateo, California In charge of over $6M in tooling assets, and responsibilities for making sure we were ready to scale up production on or ahead of time. Took what was a spreadsheet secretly shared between 2-3 members and helped keep that information up to date with the engineering team so they could understand when they needed to lock designs. Also helped to drive better understanding of tooling cost and where savings can be made in future iterations. ### Manufacturing Technology Engineer @ Building 8, Facebook @ Facebook Jan 2017 – Jan 2018 | Menlo Park, California Building 8's goal was to create and ship new, category-defining consumer hardware products that were social first, at scale, and to power a breakthrough innovation engine modeled after DARPA. ### Manufacturing Design and Test lead @ GoPro Jan 2016 – Jan 2017 | San Mateo, California Grew from a process and design troubleshooter, to an executional ramp mechanic assisting and unblocking multiple product launches and supply changes. Recognized for my knowledge of manufacturing processes and new-to-GoPro technologies, then promoted to SME role in the architecture team. Followed my familial team mates to FB to help them launch their latest product, and came back to rejoin the family. ### Sustaining Engineer @ GoPro Jan 2015 – Jan 2016 | San Mateo, California, United States ### Supply Base Engineer @ Apple Jan 2013 – Jan 2015 | Cupertino, CA If there is any company that understands manufacturing, it is Apple; unafraid to develop obscure technology into a mass-manufacturing process, regardless of difficulty level. This is where I developed my eye for meticulous quality and detail in manufacturing. Statistics and its manufacturing inference can be applied very effectively to bring tolerances to levels that some Manufacturers think is not possible. We teach them otherwise, everyday, at scale. ### Contractor - Manufacturing Engineer @ Honeywell Jan 2012 – Jan 2013 | Yorba Linda, CA Learned the importance of scale. Small size companies have very different challenges than large companies. Outsourcing is not always the most effective, and tribal knowledge rains supreme. Luckily, most of these are pretty easy to translate into documented manufacturing processes, whether in-house or when holding an outsource supplier responsible to ISO 9001 standards. Helped this company develop multiple new fixtures, processes, and supply improvements during the short tenure. ### Mechanical Engineer @ Flight of the Century Jan 2012 – Jan 2012 | Santa Ana, CA The sole drive of this company was to design and build electric vehicles for breaking boundaries. The eccentric Chip Yates has over 13 world records, and I was part of the team to achieve 5 world records for manned electrically powered aircraft. Currently the aircraft built for this project holds a Guinness world speed record of 216.9 MPH, and is currently working on recreating Charles Lindbergh’s trans-Atlantic flight using proprietary EV Infinite Range Technology.
