# Michael Helvey > Senior Platform Engineer at Transport4 Location: Lincoln, Nebraska, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/michaelhelvey I am an experienced full-stack software engineer, based in Lincoln, NE and working remotely. From working with early-stage startups to established engineering organizations, I’ve had the opportunity to wear many different hats, and work at every layer of several software stacks — for example, I’ve built DevOps infrastructure using tools like Gitlab, GitHub, GCP & AWS, built backend services in Python, Go, Node.js, PHP, and other languages, and written frontends using a variety of modern Javascript tools. I have deep experience in the modern Javascript/Typescript ecosystem, especially in React.js and current meta-frameworks such as Next.js and Remix, along with the developer-facing tooling required to bring these technologies to life. I’m passionate about using these tools to push forward the UI and UX that’s possible on the web. I later transitioned to platform engineering, helping to build up the platform engineering team from the ground up to manage our distributed cloud infrastructure on AWS, building out developer tooling — infrastructure as code tools using CloudFormation, Terraform, and Pulumi, developer-facing services for incident management, database migrations, telemetry and so on, and helping individual teams get ownership and observability of their services from local development to production. ### Senior Software Engineer @ Opendorse Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 | Lincoln, Nebraska, United States ### Full Stack Software Engineer @ Spreetail Jan 2022 – Jan 2022 | Lincoln, Nebraska, United States At Spreetail I worked on a distributed Node.js/Typescript/React microservice and microfrontend-based application targeted at the vendors we partnered with. Later I led frontend engineering on a team that built internal-facing tools designed to collect key datapoints from across the organization and provide users with the ability to access, query, and take action on that data. ### Full Stack Software Engineer @ Kepler Education Jan 2019 – Jan 2022 | Remote Kepler is a company that I helped build from scratch over a couple of years. I worked from the beginning with the other members of the company to determine how and what to build, manage project timelines and expectations, create UI designs for our products, and hire and coordinate with our other developers. The web development stack I worked with every day included React, Typescript, Node.js, Python and the Django framework, Go, Docker, Google Cloud Platform, and PostgreSQL. ### Full Stack Software Engineer @ Roman Roads Media Jan 2018 – Jan 2022 At Roman Roads Media, I was responsible for developing and maintaining our web platform, using a legacy Wordpress + Woocommerce site, along with many new features using React, Node.js, Python, and MySQL. I maintained pipelines on Gitlab, our server infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform and Digital Ocean, and various supporting systems, from internal administrative databases and scripts. I worked directly with the company owners to plan and execute new features and development. ### Software Engineer @ AuditionMe, Inc Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 At AuditionMe, I did QA testing for our web and mobile products, development on our mobile apps using the React & React Native, and later, the Ionic Framework with Angular 2, along with native Cordova plugin development for iOS, and served as the primary maintainer of our API, using Python with Django and PostgreSQL. ### Software Engineer @ RopeMetrics, LLC Jan 2017 – Jan 2018 At RopeMetrics, I worked on a mobile application written with the Ionic framework, for web, Android, and iOS. ### Software Engineer @ AuditionMe, Inc Jan 2015 – Jan 2017 | Moscow, Idaho As the lead developer for the AuditionMe social media platform, I was responsible for designing and developing our iOS application and SDK, as well as creating and managing our back end infrastructure, which includes AWS and Heroku, NodeJS, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Django.
