# Michael Kero > Engineer Location: New York, New York, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/michaelkero I develop tools, workflows, and data pipelines to support business critical spatial data needs. I have experience supporting high performing AEC design teams to simplify and augment their design tooling and patterns. My latest work has been building and maintaining data pipelines to serve the source of truth for all spatial data and inventory. The full pipeline harvests the authoring design data which is transformed into the base business critical space data. The full suite of inventory linked to the space data is then managed and made searchable for sales and other teams. Open Source Projects: 1. GCRevit: https://github.com/geometrycoder/GCRevit This is a library which wraps the Revit API and provides a more fine grained abstraction. It also defines a consistent element collect and creation framework. It basically makes building tools in Revit easier. 2. GCRevitTools: https://github.com/geometrycoder/GCRevitTools This is a Revit Ribbon applications with various tools developed using the GCRevit library. Primary Programming Resources: - Languages: Go, C#, Java, Javascript, Typescript - Tooling: Git, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Vault - Front End: React, Redux, Angular 2 - Back End: GRPC, ProtoBuf, RabbitMQ, Node.js, NPM, Express, Mongo, Redis, AWS - Observability: Jaeger, Prometheus, Grafana ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Motif Jan 2024 – Present ### Senior Software Development Engineer @ Yardi Jan 2023 – Jan 2024 | New York, New York, United States ### Senior Software Engineer @ WeWork Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 | New York, New York, United States ### Software Engineer @ WeWork Jan 2018 – Jan 2022 | Greater New York City Area - Built microservices replacing monolith serving the source of truth of spatial and location data. - Built pricing and inventory cache for website ecommerce Dedicated Desks initiative. - Built the Ingestion Pipeline harvesting source design models. The pipeline is integral to accurate inventory representation. Pipeline consists of: Revit external application reflecting over all design elements to generate payload (C#, Typescript, React). Data Repository API which stores all harvest blobs in a git-like repository structure (Java). ETL which parses the blobs and transforms them into spatial business entities (Go). - Built Go gRPC microservice for CRUD unary endpoints on all spatial entities and a streaming endpoint for the larger harvest payloads. Integrates with other services using messaging queues. Used by multiple teams serving member facing applications, and internal applications for real time reading, creating and updating of entities. - Built GraphQL space and inventory gateway achieving a unified data model over dispersed sources of truth. Built Temporal workflows for unifying location entity modification reducing 7 interfaces to a single point of interaction. - Built Go geometry library. - Created technical design documentation for multiple product initiatives. ### Senior Applications Developer | CORE studio @ Thornton Tomasetti Jan 2015 – Jan 2018 | Greater New York City Area - Built application to connect structural analysis remote solving service to identify shear and strength outliers. Uses embedded web applications in a desktop application using Three.js in a custom control extending the CefSharp WPF browser. - Built connectivity repair desktop application visualize connectivity and repair framing. - Built web based framing repair functions and interface for industry leading cross-platform design software, Konstru. - Led all development and maintenance of 80+ Revit Tools. - Built automated deployment and continuous integration systems. - Designed and implemented bespoke workflows and applications for use across 40+ offices globally. ### Adjunct Faculty @ New Jersey Institute of Technology Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 | Greater New York City Area Educator of AD 112 Communication In Art & Design, Digital Media ### Integrated Applications Specialist @ Weidlinger Associates, Inc. Jan 2013 – Jan 2015 - Led all computational analysis, bespoke and generalized tool development for 20+ offices. Implemented use-tracking data that revealed 85% reduction in time to complete complex, repetitive tasks. - Built interpolation tool packages to translate model data across platforms. Allowed us to create Tekla models to successfully enter that service market. - Built many tools to automate various manual processes in our Protective Design group. Effectively reduced analysis time from 2 days of engineer work to 2 minutes. This effort has propelled the Protective Design group to being one of the most profitable practices in the company. - Built tools and workflows to rationalize, translate and document complex geometry. ### BIM Technician and Software Developer @ Buro Happold Jan 2011 – Jan 2012 Provided computational solutions to various problems confronting our engineers and our clients. This was done primarily by developing plugins for the various software used in-house. ### Assistant Project Manager and Draftsman @ San Fanandre Justin Architects Jan 2006 – Jan 2011 ### Summer Intern @ Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) Jan 2003 – Jan 2006 ## Education ### Bachelor of Architecture in Architecture, Computer Science, Philosophy New Jersey Institute of Technology ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/michael-kero-81689230 --- Source: https://flows.cv/michaelkero JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/michaelkero/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-05
