I was hired as a junior but quickly demonstrated that I could tackle the responsibilities of a more senior role and was promoted within the year. I graduated from pushing bug fixes to production in my first week to contributing in higher level architecture and systems design by the end of six months.
Due to being an early addition to the engineering team I gained significant fullstack technical domain knowledge across all codebases and services. Because of this I was often consulted on matters both within the engineering team and cross-functionally .
I became the subject matter expert on a system I designed and maintained to verify credentials for eligibility of students applying for state and federal emergency aid. This system utilized AWS Lambdas for scalable processing of student records and ElasticSearch for flexible matching on verifiable user provided credentials. This eligibility service was responsible for determining approvals on 100,000+ applications to distribute millions of dollars in emergency aid.
