Jan 2018 – Jan 2020 | San Francisco Bay Area Interceptor Drone: Drone Development team member that developed interceptor drones that would autonomously take off, search, and capture unfriendly adversarial drones. The capturing system consisted of firing a net to immobilize the target. The system had the ability to drop targets safely at a desired location. Designed, fabricated, and optimized an ultra-compact jammer to jam predatory drones in flight. A special pulse jamming technique was designed to virtually stun remotely operated drones. The design is currently in the patent-pending process. Improved drone communications using a variety of Military-grade tactical mesh radios. Provided key input on hardware architecture and PCB board design. Utilized 3D solid-state LIDAR with ROS and PCL to detect drones in 3D space up to 75 meters. Integrated RTK GPS to improve our drones localization. Supported various client demonstrations and deployments (Government and Commercial). Galaxy Drone Detection System: Worked on the development and deployment of Airspace’s Galaxy detection system that utilizes an array of sensor networks in various locations to detect compliant and adversarial drones. Designed and implemented an IP PTZ camera control system that integrated sensor information from RADAR, RF (TDOA, AOA, Protocol Analysis), and AI vision to steer cameras toward drone targets. The system successfully tracked drones within a 2-mile range. Designed and deployed an edge, cloud, and frontend system for Real-time video streaming using WEBRTC to stream and control various PTZ cameras. The system is able to stream multiple 720p to 1080p camera streams over a cellular connection while maintaining sub-second latency. ### Principal Engineer @ Inipop Jan 2015 – Jan 2018 | Buenos Aires As the principal engineer for this startup I was the team lead and key designer/implementer of the major projects within the company. Assignments used cutting-edge technologies within the fields of IoT(Internet of Things) and defining products for customers using our IoT Colibri platform. A short description of projects designed and deployed are as follows: Sensor Network Platform Solution for the Buenos Aires City Government Lead the development of hardware, embedded software, cloud implementation and the system level integration for a customer platform that involved the design, manufacturing, and field deployment /installation. Developed stand-alone sensor boxes (100 total) that provides real time full spectrum environmental monitoring data (wind direction and speed, rainfall, air pressure, sound, vibration, ambient light, UV light, air sampling (CO, C02, SO2, VOC), RF spectrum) and senses that report motion with the use of video cameras. The second task included over 200 parking sensors that provided the city with data on parking violators and communicated this information via LORA. The deployment of this technology was the first government implementation of LORA within Buenos Aires. * The information for both projects is then transmitted to a customized cloud platform that processes and displays the information in real time. This platform was deployed within a Microsoft Azure datacenter. Colibri Platform: Designed and Implemented a modular hardware IoT platform. The platform served as the core technology within the company and is the foundation for how the company deploys custom IoT hardware solutions. The platform can virtually support a very wide family of SOMs/Microcontrollers, power configurations, network interfaces, and sensors. The modular design maximizes for reusability, scalability, and rapid customization to tailor to any needs of the client. ### Design Engineer @ Space AI Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 | Buenos Aires, Argentina Contributed with a team of engineers assembled to develop and deploy the first autonomous vehicle in Latin America. The project was a rapid design and deployment for a prototype autonomous vehicle that could navagivate the streets of Buenos Aires. The project’s sponsor was the mayor of Buenos Aires and the successful deployment of this project contributed to the election of Mauricio Macri as the President of Argentina as his commitment to bring technology to Argentina. Also, the project was recognized as a 2015 MIT Technology Review winner. ### Research and Design @ California Polytechnic State University Jan 2014 – Jan 2014 Expanded on a framework that takes in MRI images and produces a 3D model of specified tissue features. ### Intern – Tachy Product Development @ St. Jude Medical Jan 2013 – Jan 2013 | Sunnyvale Acted as the software support for the Hardware Characterization Team. During this Co-op assignment at St. Jude’s Medical, I was assigned the task to solve complicated problems that our group encountered. These problems ranged from Embedded System to data management issues. ### Software Engineer @ Synbotics Jan 2012 – Jan 2013 | San Luis Obispo, California Area Using a Gumstix (embedded Linux board) I wrote a communications library that allowed clients to control the GPX 4600 platform over Ethernet. Also took part in a joint effort with JAPL(John Hopikins Applied Physics Laboratories) which premiered on 60 minutes. ## Education ### Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo ### Oxford High School ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/michael1991j --- Source: https://flows.cv/michaelroberts1 JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/michaelroberts1/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-31
