Created numerous Social, Incentive, and Progression features to increase Retention Metrics for our mobile gaming app. As the 5th engineer on a small team, I was responsible for enabling users to interact with others and giving them more reasons to come back.

Iterated on features from back-end to front-end and worked with UX and Product teams to ensure content was created as envisioned.

Implemented Profile Picture support that is used by 70% of active users by designing UI components, adding an endpoint to support file uploads, and updating the infrastructure via AWS CloudFormation to enable usage of AWS S3.

Provided users with a seamless experience by caching server payloads on the front-end and database queries on the back-end. My work reduced server and database overhead by 20% during peak traffic.

Optimized the ‘Correlator’, resulting in an increased throughput of 300%. Refactored a database-intensive back-end onto Postgres Procedural code to significantly reduce network and server overhead.

Implemented logical, numerical range, and wildcard query support to our vessel tracking web-app. Built out the front and back-end to translate text searches into SQL queries.
