(BIFROST) Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 | Seoul, South Korea PILAB is a research-focused blockchain company founded in 2017 by two professors. It was the best place to actually learn about blockchains. Along with government projects, it developed the interoperability-focused Bifrost Network and multiple DeFi protocols & DApps. PILAB is backed by Korea Investment Partners and STIC Ventures, top VCs in Korea. • Product: I got to create a new kind of DeFi leverage service from ideation to launch in 2 months in a 4-person team. It grew the protocol asset by 25% in 3 months. I also helped develop a chatbot for GTM that grew 100% MoM for 6 months. • Growth: I led a 6-person team to grow across the US, EU, China, and Korea, and developed communities in 12 different languages reaching 30K MAUs. We pulled out all the stops – campaigns, referrals, influencers. • Strategy: I devised an updated strategy working with CXOs – updating the Product Roadmap, authoring a white paper, developing the Pitch Deck, and pitching to overseas investors. I joined a seasoned entrepreneur as the first employee, fresh out of college. I spent 30% of the time fundraising, 30% of the time developing the product, and 30% of the time selling the product. For the other 10%, I was hiring people, making dashboards, and putting off fires. Along the way, I picked up Jira, SQL, Figma, and Google Analytics. In 3 years, I got to see how an idea can grow to process $5M in orders for 300+ farms and 30+ grocers in 9 states. Forager was recently acquired by B2B Local Food Marketplace. ### Vinland @ Freelance Consultant Jan 2014 – Jan 2015 | Portland, Maine Area Vinland (vinland.me) was the first restaurant in the United States to serve 100% local, organic food. It opened my eyes to food and how it relates to ecology, nutrition, and local economy. I helped inform menu strategy (margin analysis and market research), ran marketing (performance, print, digital, social media), and designed everything. We got to #1 on Yelp/TripAdvisor and achieved 50% higher reservation rates. ### Career Planning Center: Publicity Manager @ Bowdoin College Jan 2010 – Jan 2014 | Brunswick, Maine For the course of 4 years in college, I got to experiment with email and event marketing. I doubled the average open rates for the weekly email campaigns by tweaking the subject lines and timing. For the major annual fashion show (yes, a career-related fashion show), I doubled the attendance rate to 250 people, which was 15% of the campus). I became pretty good at DSLR photography and graphic design. ### Common Good Grant Committee Member @ Bowdoin College Jan 2012 – Jan 2013 | Brunswick, Maine Common Good Grant Committee offers a year-long seminar on philanthropy and fundraising and hands-on experience awarding grants to local non-profit organizations. As one of twenty students selected as committee member, I helped raise about $8,000 to supplement the grant awards. ### Summer Intern @ Green Bee Craft Beverages Jan 2013 – Jan 2013 | Brunswick, Maine I was curious about CPG and dying to spend the summer in Maine. I found Green Bee, the first honey-sweetened soda company, founded by an ex-banker to give his kids a healthy soda while helping the endangered honey bees. I learned how to operate a CPG business, and also learned how to brew beer on the side. With some lucky cold emails, I got to work at Mariner Investment Group, a global fund manager with $8.6B AUM focused on alternative investment vehicles. I learned about the hedge fund industry around the world and in Korea, while translating PPMs, organizing CRMs of pension funds, and creating a report on Basel III regulations for prospective investors. ### Project Volunteer @ Communities Without Borders Jan 2011 – Jan 2011 | Lusaka, Zambia Communities Without Borders brings together local communities in the U.S. and Zambia to promote education and healthcare for orphaned children of AIDS victims. I went to understand how I could be part of the solution, and came back understanding the sheer complexity of the problem. I went to Zambia to have an impact, but it was Zambia that impacted me.
