# Misty Cripps > Lead Product Designer (AI Systems) | ex-frog, ex-Yahoo Location: San Francisco, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/mistycripps Portfolio: https://vaquitadesign.com I design systems and interaction models that shape complex products. From semantic retrieval to agent-driven workflows, my current work focuses on how people navigate, reason, act, and guide autonomous systems. I’m currently working on several AI projects in publishing. It has proven to be an interesting workspace, especially for AI-driven discovery systems and explorations of trust and ethics. My work is focused on information retrieval, AI knowledge interfaces, editorial workflow automation, LLM-assisted discovery, and value-sensitive design and interaction governance. All challenging interaction and product architecture problems. I'm open to consulting engagements or a full-time role focused on systems, interaction, and architecture design. ## Work Experience ### Lead Product Designer (AI Systems) @ Freelance Jan 2017 – Present | San Francisco Bay Area In my current role, I: Lead end-to-end product design and development for a digital publishing platform. Define product direction in collaboration with editorial stakeholders, translating editorial, community, and business needs into scalable systems and workflows. -Designed and implemented an AI-powered content discovery system using semantic retrieval and conversational interfaces, enabling users to explore content through natural language and emotional context rather than keyword search -Built and shipped agent-assisted editorial workflows that automate content publishing, author management, social publishing, and image generation, reducing publishing time by 30% -Partner with editorial leads to define product strategy, submission workflows, and contributor experience across a distributed publishing operation -Developed research and outreach agents to identify contributors, funding opportunities, and community engagement signals, saving hundreds of hours of manual effort -Designed and launched a conversational assistant to support contributors during submission, reducing support overhead and increasing completion rates -Own the full product lifecycle, including research, interaction design, system architecture, implementation, and ongoing iteration in a live production environment ### Associate Creative Director @ frog Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 Led UX and design strategy for major client engagements in emerging technology, directing multidisciplinary teams on enterprise-scale projects requiring novel interaction paradigms. Presented design strategy and innovation roadmaps to stakeholders and contributed to new business development through pitch work and strategic consultation. ### Principal Designer @ frog Jan 2007 – Jan 2014 Led interaction design for large-scale enterprise and consumer products across finance, healthcare, telecom, and entertainment. Worked hands-on conducting research, concepting, and execution while leading multidisciplinary teams. The work I'm most proud of from this period is pioneering dual-screen mobile interaction paradigms at a time when nobody had really solved the design problems of multi-screen systems. That work resulted in 4 U.S. patents covering gesture-based navigation, universal clipboard, display stack management, and novel viewing methods. It required thinking deeply about how users conceptualize moving between interconnected screens and not just designing surfaces. Also mentored junior designers, contributed to internal education, and wrote and spoke on emerging interaction patterns and research methodologies. ### Senior Interaction Designer @ Yahoo Jan 2004 – Jan 2007 Led design and research for major platform redesigns in Yahoo!'s Lifestyles group, working on high-traffic consumer products serving millions of daily users. Drove the full design process across multiple simultaneous product lines, collaborating closely with engineering and product in a fast-moving, analytics-driven environment. ### User Experience Designer @ Oracle Jan 2003 – Jan 2004 Designed user experiences for enterprise CRM and HR systems serving a global workforce. Conducted formal usability research, developed prototypes and design specifications, and collaborated with engineering on improvements to mission-critical business systems. ## Education ### Bachelor of Arts - BA in Linguistics University of California, Davis ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/mistycripps - Portfolio: https://vaquitadesign.com --- Source: https://flows.cv/mistycripps JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/mistycripps/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-13
