# Muhammad Hadi > SWE @ Medtronic | Robust Roboticist | Unapologetic Extrovert Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/muhammadhadi When I was 8, I told this other kid that I wanted to be an inventor when I grew up. I remember him laughing and telling me that that’s not a thing. I started bawling, and I may have tried to head-butt him (he was taller and stronger, so all’s well). Fast forward to now, with two engineering degrees and active contributions towards two surgical robotic systems, I can safely say I’ve earned somewhat of a license to invent! With a burning desire to solve practical, real life problems, my goal is to translate my passion into reality. From making a path planning mobile robot zoom around looking for landmarks, to teleoperating a surgical robot via hand tracking, engineering, or "inventing," has become my second nature. I love engineering, I love writing, I love people, and I love the Arctic Monkeys, so if any of those spark your interest, I look forward to getting a message from you! ## Work Experience ### Sr Software Engineer @ Medtronic Jan 2026 – Present | Boston, Massachusetts, United States ### Software Engineer II @ Medtronic Jan 2023 – Jan 2026 | Boston, Massachusetts, United States Non-product software tool owner and developer, contributing directly to enahancing current testing paradigm of Medtornic's flagship Hugo RAS system. • Collaborate with multiple teams to identify and deliver comprehensive custom software tool maintenance and development to support testing across controls, user flow, kinematics, and other aspects of surgical robotic development. • Actively contribute to continuous improvement of system architecture, primarily leveraging simulink and python. • Assist in triaging, debugging, and code reviews for developers, testers, and system architects across the HUGO RAS platform's development suite. ### Teaching Assistant - Augmented Reality @ Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering Jan 2022 – Jan 2022 | Baltimore, Maryland, United States ### Research Assistant - SMARTS Lab @ Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering Jan 2022 – Jan 2022 | Baltimore, Maryland, United States Conducting novel research under Dr. Peter Kazanzides and Dr. Ehsan Azimi regarding the union of surgical robotics in the mixed reality sphere. Spearheading efforts on investigating new control methodologies, user interaction, and enhanced information relay to impact the standard of surgical robotics ### Software Engineer @ Galen Robotics Jan 2022 – Jan 2022 | Baltimore, Maryland, United States Implemented customizable virtual Remote Center of Motion on flagship Galen Robot, further enhancing paradigm of Minimally Invasive Surgery through cost-effective virtual implementation. Deployed full-stack approach to streamline user interaction and control customization (QML) with multimodal backend implementation (C++), utilizing all agile ceremonies to successfully integrate product into existing engineering pipeline. ### Research And Development Engineer @ Integrated Liner Technologies Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 | Rensselaer, New York, United States Developed and implemented industrial automation and testing protocols for manufacturing machines and products, pertaining to molded medical products and septa and cap assembly lines. Automated key manufacturing assemblies, led prototyping efforts for new molded medical products, and implemented KEYENCE vision and mechanical tests for operational verification, establishing evaluation framework for a multimillion-dollar project. ### Teaching Assistant @ University of Rochester Jan 2017 – Jan 2020 | Rochester, New York Area Contributing member of the TA teams for : Engineering Statics, Engineering Dynamics, Solid Mechanics, Mechanical Systems, Fluids Lab, Mechanical Design I, Mechanical Design II ### Residential Advisor @ University of Rochester Jan 2017 – Jan 2020 | Rochester, New York, United States ### Research Assistant @ Advanced Computational Mechanics and Materials Lab Jan 2017 – Jan 2019 | University of Rochester Primary research revolved around the statistical analysis of single crystalline and core-shell copper nanoporous structures, to identify and map failure and deformation mechanisms using quantitative and qualitative methodologies. Published corresponding paper in the Journal of Material Science. (more details under "Projects"). ### Student Researcher @ Hamburg University of Technology Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | Hamburg Area, Germany Part of the 2018 DAAD-RISE scholar cohort, conducted research regarding Optimal Trajectory Control of Multi-Body Systems at Hamburg University of Technology. Research revolved simulated implementation of optimal trajectory control onto a 3-link rigid planar arm in collaboration with a Ph.D candidate. Presented my research at annual DAAD-RISE conference in Heidelberg, Germany.
