# Mun May Tee > Head of Applied AI + Design @ AT&T / ex-Samsung SmartThings, Wikipedia, BrightAI Location: San Francisco, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/munmaytee I turn powerful, ambiguous capabilities into products with customer pull and business value. At AT&T, I ➊ move agentic opportunities and high-utility AI tools to production ➋ built Design from the ground up into an upstream decision authority that de-risks, shapes, and owns outcomes from BAU to the CEO's growth agenda. I come from execution — design, product, some code, and a founder background — so I hold the zone between what's possible and what people will actually use. I don't need a clean canvas. I operate with the same resourcefulness. I'm the person who identifies and calls out waste: I've replaced costly external contracts with automations and lean internal tools and lead the investment framing that stops expensive, low-signal products before they become politically difficult to kill. In each case, the work outlasts my direct involvement — systems, platforms, and decision models so the org compounds on what's working. ## Work Experience ### Head of Applied AI & Design @ AT&T Jan 2022 – Present | San Francisco Bay Area Own the applied AI portfolio — vet which gen AI and agentic opportunities are worth pursuing; build internal tools to evaluate, build, and deploy agentic workflows at scale. Shifted how AT&T evaluates bets — from BAU to the CEO's growth agenda — so risk surfaces before launches become expensive to stop. That's what halted a major launch after testing proved the TAM the org had assumed wasn't there. Shaped the product bets that entered the CEO's growth initiative portfolio — concepts compelling enough to secure funding & IP protection. Walked into a politics-heavy space on week one and reframed our Digital vision around customer signal. Made AT&T's Product Design function an upstream decision authority — designers here own strategy through execution, no handoff layer. We operate with capital efficiency. ### Product Leader @ BrightAI Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 | San Francisco Bay Area Shaped consumer fitness experiences around what people wanted from connected hardware - not what the hardware could do. Defined & shipped desktop and home security experiences within the IoT platform. ### Founding Design Lead @ OpenCounter Jan 2016 – Jan 2017 | San Francisco Bay Area Defined and built OpenCounter 2.0, establishing a durable product model that continues to be used post-acquisition. ### Design Leader @ Wikimedia Foundation Jan 2013 – Jan 2016 | San Francisco Bay Area When prior attempts to introduce a design system at Wikipedia failed, I took a different approach — using a contentious accessibility debate as the foundation the community could rally behind.. enabling sustained interface evolution across Wikipedia since. Designed the Wikipedia iOS mobile app, which received an  Apple Editors' Choice Award. Built a prototyping tool that enabled non-technical contributors to shape product ideas within a shared visual language. ### User Experience Leader @ The Weather Channel Jan 2012 – Jan 2013 | Greater Atlanta Area Led design for The Weather Channel's Windows apps through a major rebrand — driving app ratings from 2★ to near 5★ app ratings. ### Art Director @ BrightHouse, LLC Jan 2012 – Jan 2012 | Greater Atlanta Area Uncovered brand strategies at the intersection of purpose, profit and social impact for Fortune 500 brands like American Standard and FedEx. ### Designer & Producer @ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Jan 2012 – Jan 2012 | Atlanta Managed the production of twodocumentary short films to galvanize collective action on America’s obesity epidemic... for Michelle Obama! ### Art Director @ Various organizations Jan 2007 – Jan 2010 | Australia, Malaysia, USA ### Art Director @ J.
