Rewrote the server development environment to focus on reliability and reproducibility, using the integration testing environment developed under Build Infrastructure as the basis. Built a selective-testing infrastructure based on the open-sourced project Bazel so that only tests that absolutely need to run for correctness are run. Implemented various improvements to Bazel, including making the Bazel sandbox use a consistent base image for reproducibility. Launched new integration testing environment based on Bazel, standardizing integration testing between infrastructure and product teams and allowing integration tests to be selectively tested. Owned the reliability strategy for Postgres, the database used for the company’s CI system.
