Growing up in a rural area, Computer Science education was something that wasn't readily available to me, or that I really even knew existed until I was in high school. On a whim, I jumped at the first opportunity I had to take an AP Computer Science course. From the very beginning of this course, I found myself intrigued by the subject. Even though I was already well adjusted to using personal computers, the idea of understanding how to program them and the applications that they run excited me.

In the blink of an eye, I found myself at Virginia Tech and quickly made the decision to study Computer Science. Throughout my first two years, my intrigue for the discipline rapidly transformed into valuable knowledge. Java was the first language that I learned, quickly followed by C and Python, and I've mastered many Computer Science principles to supplement my understanding of each. I am optimistic about how much I still have left to learn and how much I will grow as a computer scientist, not only during the rest of my time at Virginia Tech, but also throughout my life that follows.

Beyond my experiences so far, I look forward to applying the skills that I've developed in an industry setting and gaining new career experiences. Above all of this, however, I look forward to my first opportunities to focus my ambition and expertise on products and services that improve the lives of many on a daily basis.
