# Nelson Spencer > AI Transformation & Engineering Consultant for People Teams Location: New York City Metropolitan Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/nelsonspencer Hey, glad you're here. I've always been drawn to the same question: what actually helps people perform at a high level, and what gets in the way? I started my career in baseball analytics, where my job was to understand player performance and outcomes. Over time, my work shifted from just looking at the numbers to helping coaches actually use them. That pulled me into the People side of the work. From there I moved into people analytics. Same instinct, different setting. Instead of players and coaches, it was employees and leaders. Using data to understand how work really happens, what helps people do their best work, and where systems are getting in their way. I built and led People Analytics at Sonos, led Talent Technology and Analytics at Figma, and spent a decade learning what makes People teams run well and what slows them down. Then AI showed up, and I got obsessed. Not because it was new tech, but because it felt like the start of something bigger. I spent more and more time building with it, testing its limits, and using it to stretch what I could do on my own. Now I run Augi Ventures, where I help People and HR teams build with AI. On the engineering side, that means agents, automations, and integrations across the HR tech stack. On the transformation side, that means readiness diagnostics, workshops, and enablement that help organizations build real AI fluency. I also serve as an advisor and community lead for PeopleTech Partners, the HR tech accelerator, and advise early-stage startups on product and go-to-market in the AI and HR tech space.
