The Berkeley Science & Math Initiative supports current and aspiring Bay Area math and science teachers through its constituent programs, Math for America Berkeley and Cal Teach. In my role as program assistant I handled primary interaction and follow-up with teacher-fellows and worked with the director to develop and meet long-term goals. My responsibilities included helping teachers plan and complete professional and leadership development activities; promoting the program through partners on campus, in local school districts, and in outside organizations; and planning meetings, workshops, and receptions, and gathering feedback from these events. I also handled academic appointments and classroom scheduling for Cal Teach courses, was the primary administrator for the Cal Teach Summer Research Institute, and led promotional efforts to expand recognition and enrollment.
