# Nicholas Gard > Staff Frontend Engineer at Webflow Location: Hillsboro, Oregon, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/nicholasgard I am an experienced and passionate web devoloper, thoroughly versed in Javascript, CSS, and HTML and I love keeping up with and using the latest web technologies. I've worked with everything from JQuery to React, CSS to SASS to Emotion, and plain HTML to Handlebars or Pug. I am an accessibility specialist, and I'm always willing to share my knowledge and pair with designers and devs on better user experiences. I'm always looking forward to my next challenge and learning something new. ## Work Experience ### Staff Frontend Engineer @ Webflow Jan 2022 – Present Accessibility Team Lead * Improving Webflow's standard element accessibility * Adding tools to enable clients to audit and improve their websites’ accessibility * Mentoring and up-leveling developers in accessibility and frontend practices * Coordinating audits and improvements to Webflow’s many brand sites * Work closely with Design Systems team to improve component library accessibility ### Senior Software Engineer @ Webflow Jan 2019 – Present | Remote: Oregon ### Senior Frontend Developer @ Nike Jan 2017 – Jan 2019 | Beaverton, Oregon I am building Nike's new React/Redux e-commerce front end. Previously, I maintained and expanded Nike's custom A/B testing framework and analytics tag manager. ### Senior UI Engineer @ @WalmartLabs Jan 2015 – Jan 2017 | Portland, Oregon Area Building and maintaining the React web application for Walmart's Grocery (pickup and delivery) app. My area of expertise and primary responsibility is the UI of the app. I ensure that our app has semantic and accessible markup (JSX/HTML) and concise and maintainable style (CSS). ### Web Developer @ Mainz Brady Group Jan 2014 – Jan 2015 | Beaverton, OR On contract at Nike, Inc. ### Front End Engineer @ Nike Jan 2014 – Jan 2015 | Beaverton, OR Senior Web Developer working on the consumer experience at store.nike.com. I make beautiful designs a reality on an accessible, international website that is viewed millions of times per day across many devices. My team and I not only continually update our site to be the most engaging consumer experience possible, but also ensure that it is crawlable (SEO-optimized), accessible (ADA-optimized), performant and progressive (as well as regressive - we support many older browsers and devices). ### Software Developer @ Umpqua Bank Jan 2014 – Jan 2014 | Hillsboro, Oregon I have built, and still maintain, an internal Ember application that facilitates banking transactions between new Umpqua branches (from a merger) and legacy Umpqua members, as well as between legacy Umpqua branches and new members. The CrossBank application has been well-received and has proven to be very robust. It is being considered as a permanent tool to be used in all future Umpqua acquisitions and mergers rather than as just a temporary tool for the current merger. I retrofit a new intranet site to work functionally and aesthetically in Internet Explorer 8. This requirement was added at the end of the development cycle of the project because the work to upgrade all Umpqua employee computers to use Internet Explorer 9+ fell behind schedule. In the last two-week sprint of the development cycle, I was able to add drop-shadows, rounded corners, transparent components and other enhancements that IE8 lacks natively. I am currently working on the new online banking Ember application for Umpqua, which will be turned into both an Android and iOS app via PhoneGap. This project is being built on the Q2 banking tool, but is being heavily altered for both design and functionality for use with Umpqua. ### Web Developer @ Catalyst IT Services Jan 2011 – Jan 2014 Contracted to Nike.com as a front-end web developer. ### Front End Developer @ Nike Jan 2012 – Jan 2013 I worked as a part of an Agile team on the commerce experience at Nike.com. I owned the front-end of the SmartCart Launch tool, which queues customers up for high-heat product launches and stops them from hitting the "Buy" button multiple times and potentially causing an error. My team owned the Product pages for desktop, mobile and ADA and I worked on the buying tools, the custom messaging, the filtering and searching of products, and implementing the Notify Me service. I updated the employee web experience, known as Swoosh. This entailed converting an old, outdated login and registration experience into HTML5, SASS and modular Javascript, as well as integrating the employee pricing into the Product pages. I support product launches and production deployments of front-end code. During these launches and deployments, I also act as the initial contact to determine the source of issues that arise and recommend the appropriate team to contact. I maintain our current Omniture web analytics code and configuration and add new analytics tags as requested by the business. I also worked with TeaLeaf/Tealium to integrate their analytics during our A/B testing of analytics vendors. ## Education ### Master of Arts (MA) in Secondary Education and Teaching Western Oregon University Jan 2010 – Jan 2011 ### Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mathematics Western Oregon University Jan 2007 – Jan 2010 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/ngard --- Source: https://flows.cv/nicholasgard JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/nicholasgard/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-22
