# Nick Kraly > Product invention, strategy & realization, AI positive skeptic. xGoogle, xVmware, xKaiser Permanente, xIntel. This is an AI-free profile. Location: San Francisco, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/nickkraly I take ideas, large and small, from vision to launch. I contribute value at any stage of the creative process. I do my best work in a team of super smart people making new things that are valuable to people and/or business. I am an AI-positive skeptic. I've been doing this for a while now, but this world we're in reminds of 1999. There was pure chaos everywhere, pending doom, and yet the promise of the Internet was clear as day to those of us willing to embrace change. Here we are again, at an inflection point, the Internet has enabled a new wave of possibility. I'm AI positive, but skeptical. In my opinion, AI will be an important foundation, but we have not yet begun to grasp the more exciting possibilities. We have yet as a world begun to deeply explore possibilities that make life universally better for all. Until we get out of our current "optimization loop" we will continue to think that the most incredible thing AI can do is reduce a corporation's human resource expense. Nothing in this profile is written or edited using AI. With a focus on the application of user experience discipline, Oddmachine projects are always about innovation -- creating something new from nothing. Projects include a "future state" vision for a large healthcare provider, a SaaS tool for error management of cloud-based applications, a new service design for "Smart" homeowner's insurance as iOT goes mainstream. It's a fascinating time to be making things! ### Staff UX Lead @ Centene Corporation Jan 2024 – Jan 2025 | United States At Centene, my project was to create a vision for the customer experience 3-5 years in the future. I was fortunate to have an amazing team of designers, researchers & strategists to work with. After much thought and collaboration, my proposal centered on radically clarifying the meaning of all the information a person needs to even begin to understand Medicare. I was astounded at how clumsy the semantics of Medicare are, how poorly the information is framed for users that could be facing some of the most difficult days of their lives. The opportunity for making Medicare information better is vast. ### Staff UX Lead @ Google Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 | San Francisco, California, United States This position was with Google's UFO organization (Unified Fulfillment Optimization). A strange name that meant I was working to help the folks in Google's data centers run their supply chain with an internal product called Talos. I got to visit the data center in Omaha and listen to all the diagnosticians, power specialists and the people that move million dollar racks of compute power. My team of researchers and designers was absolutely amazing. My role expanded quickly from Staff independent contributor to manager and we scrambled to A. make sure what we were doing was valuable and B. make sure we actually knew what our impact was. Our projects came in every shape and size. We worked on the usability of the core business metric used by sales, operations, engineering to determine success. We envisioned a consolidated platform from the ragtag fleet of disparate sources. One designer on the team worked on the user experience of robots in the data center. We explored experimental AI diagnostics experiences and designed a power and cooling war room. Fascinating, unusual projects to say the least, but that's what gets me out of bed in the morning. ### Staff Designer @ VMware Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 | San Francisco, California, United States ### UX Lead, Cloud Service Management @ Google Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 | San Francisco, California, United States In this role within Google Cloud, I'll be using my experience leading design within innovative technology teams such as Mashery/Intel (API Management), Docker(containers) and Backtrace(error forensics). I'll be working with an amazing team of researchers, product managers, and designers to uncover, define, unravel, and with some luck solve, complex problems that users encounter or may encounter in the future. From subtle usability issues to fundamental user alignment, we'll be fearlessly exploring the very edges of what is possible in Cloud computing. ### Principal UX Lead @ Kaiser Permanente Jan 2019 – Jan 2020 | San Francisco, California At Kaiser, my primary role is to lead a team of designers, researchers and writers to deeply explore the member experience and make it better. ### Director of Product Design and UX @ Docker, Inc Jan 2014 – Jan 2015 | San Francisco At Docker, my role was to bring product design vision, innovation process and creative leadership to a rapidly evolving product line. My work will infuse a user experience perspective into an amazingly inventive and talented company that is fundamentally changing the way that software is brought to the marketplace. ### Director of Product Design and UX @ Mashery, an Intel Company Jan 2012 – Jan 2014 | San Francisco My role is to infuse design thinking into every aspect of the product design through User Experience (UX) vision, strategy, leadership, and management of an amazing team of interaction designers and UX Engineers. ### Sr. Information Architecture Manager @ Redbox Jan 2011 – Jan 2012 At Redbox my role is to develop the vision and lead the user experience/information architecture team to a new level of innovation. The Redbox user experience spans web, kiosk, mobile, and consumer electronics such as Xbox. ### Director of Interactive Services @ Beveridge Seay Jan 2006 – Jan 2010 Beveridge Seay is a boutique design firm, specializing in brand and identity development. My role at Beveridge Seay is to help clients extend their brand attributes into their online user experience. Beveridge Seay has a rich tradition of exquisite design, going back longer than 20 years. With clients such as Exxon Mobil, Intel, Cisco, Rolls Royce, Saab and many others, Beveridge Seay has delivered the very best work to some of the world's largest companies. ### Principal and Founder @ Perspective Software and Design Jan 1998 – Jan 2006 I founded Perspective Software and Design in 1998, with my brother, Jay Kraly(CTO). We worked over the years to grow the company through revenue exclusively to 14 employees with more than 1.4 million in revenue. My role was changed as the company grew -- first and throughout, I was the product manager. I was a designer, responsible for business development, a project manager, accountant, programmer, and mopped the floors when necessary. ## Education ### BFA in Graphic Design, Illustration, Photography Rhode Island School of Design Jan 1989 – Jan 1993 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/nickkraly - Website: http://oddmachine.design --- Source: https://flows.cv/nickkraly JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/nickkraly/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-07
