# Nick Wallick > Robotics Software Engineer Location: Tempe, Arizona, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/nickwallick Electrical Engineer --> Software Engineer Experienced software engineer who enjoys diving deep into every layer of a project: hardware, software, electrical, theory and anything else. Here are some of the tech rabbit holes I've been down: -- Controlling House Size 3D printers with React JS -- At the startup, Diamond Age, I dove deep into React JS and worked on a UI that controlled house size concrete 3D printers (they call it construction automation). The users of this interface trusted it every day to construct houses with large robotics equipment. I worked closely with them, and by that I mean spending a majority of my time in the field and programming new features on the fly as we saw improvements to be made. Skills: React (JavaScript), Redux, Golang, C++, ROS 2, metrology lasers, robotic positioning systems, euclidian transformations, working with other SWEs and founders of a startup, Git, Docker -- Making A Robot Move EXACTLY Where You Want -- I became interested in a robot made by Mark Setrakian (roboticist and special effects professional), so I decided to recreate it in my own way. This one is much better explained by my video: https://youtu.be/PGe4sWHx0f0?si=ToHr91Xzf1jKEpcq Skills: Python (actually MicroPython), PCB design, microcontrollers, inverse kinematics, video editing, 3D CAD (SolidWorks) -- App Development -- React Native is one of today's most valuable skills. As an investment in my future, I decided to learn React Native rather than Swift and Kotlin. Along with coursework, here are some apps I made: Joke Gratuity Prompt: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/CyQ76o0a0-g Taco Compass: https://github.com/neutronztar/taco-compass Skills: TypeScript, React hooks, React Native, Supabase -- Trading Automation -- I was briefly obsessed with quantitative finance and learned a lot by recreating the work of Alejandro Lopez-Lira from the University of Florida. I used Go to write a backtesting engine and trading automation software and then used these to test the practicality of a stock trading strategy proposed by Lopez-Lira. My software interfaced with OpenAI's GPT-4 API, many other public APIs, and it used a MariaDB to store data. Skills: Concurrency in Golang, Consuming REST APIs, LLMs, SQL, Docker Every great master is first a master of the fundamentals. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer I @ Brain Corp Jan 2024 – Present | San Diego, California, United States ### Robotics Software Engineer @ Diamond Age Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 | Phoenix, Arizona, United States • Developed and maintained software for state-of-the-art house-scale concrete 3D printers using Go, Javascript/React, C++, Python, and ROS. • Led and trained a technician team to produce the company’s first four 3D printed houses using custom software. • Developed and deployed an intuitive React UI for calibrating the machine’s positioning system. This generalized the process and allowed technicians to perform it faster and with fewer errors. • Implemented the Lucas-Kanade optical flow algorithm for measuring concrete flow rate with a high speed camera. ### Quality and Reliability Engineering Intern @ Intel Corporation Jan 2019 – Jan 2021 | Chandler, Arizona, United States • Created and maintained SQL scripts that automatically query Intel’s databases and summarized data for engineers to use every day. • Wrote a program using Python and SQL that scans multiple databases across sites and alerts my team if lots exceed critical queue time between operations. • Thoroughly reviewed quality events and worked with engineers to find root cause, then implement preventative actions. ### 3D Printer Technician and 3D Printing Store Sales Associate @ STAX 3D PRINTING LLC Jan 2018 – Jan 2019 | Gilbert, Arizona, United States • Operated, troubleshooted, repaired, and maintained numerous 3D printer models, computers, and other 3D technology. • Disassembled, transported, and reassembled a 3D scanning studio made with over 100 networked Raspberry Pis and cameras one week ahead of schedule. • Created quotes and worked with clients to complete their projects with the correct materials and techniques. ### Power and Electronics Engineer @ AZLoop Student Hyperloop Team Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Arizona, United States • Worked on a team to design and build the 2017 AZLoop Hyperloop pod for the SpaceX Hyperloop Competition. • Collaborated with several sub-teams to achieve a safe, robust power system for the pod that powered all of its electrical components. ### Junior Electrician @ Arizona Energy Services LLC, Wiring by Tom Inc. Jan 2016 – Jan 2017 | Gilbert, Arizona, United States • Performed residential and commercial electrical work while keeping safety and the clients’ needs in mind. • Used schematics to wire new construction and diagnosed and resolved electrical problems in old construction. ## Education ### Electrical Engineering in Signal Processing Arizona State University Jan 2017 – Jan 2021 ### Zero To Mastery Academy Jan 2023 – Jan 2024 ### BSE Electrical Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University Jan 2017 – Jan 2021 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/nick-wallick-0b7161206 --- Source: https://flows.cv/nickwallick JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/nickwallick/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-29
