•Worked on core product front page search, matching, and ranking; everyday development included Go services, offline Spark jobs in Scala, machine learning model development, and integration of new features into the website.
•Designed and built an internal tool for comparing ranking algorithms, which continues to be used nearly daily by the team to allow faster iteration and debugging of ranking algorithms.
•Overhauled the retrieval system powering the front page search bar allowing customers to access more specific result lists from their search.
•Performed data analysis for experiments and undertook experimental machine learning projects, e.g. the initial investigation of moving ranking from heuristic- to ML-driven.
•Advised other engineers on developing within our near real-time Elasticsearch ranking data pipeline to ensure performant data retrieval.
•Mentored and onboarded an intern and peer engineer.
