• Designed and built an internal tool for comparing ranking algorithms, which continues to be used nearly daily by the team to allow faster iteration and debugging of ranking algorithms.
• Overhauled the retrieval system powering the front page search bar allowing customers to access more specific result lists from their search.
• Performed data analysis for experiments and undertook experimental machine learning projects, e.g. the initial investigation of moving ranking from heuristic- to ML-driven.
• Advised other engineers on developing within our near real-time Elasticsearch ranking data pipeline to ensure performant data retrieval.

• Trained a machine learning CNN model to identify visual attributes of objects, e.g. shape, color, and texture.
• Combined these visual attributes with a language grounding system to disambiguate unknown objects in a conversational human-robot interface. In other words, the robot can be told the object is e.g. blue or plastic to help it narrow down among the unknown objects in the scene.
