I like solving puzzles. There's something about trying out a method, drawing conclusions, tweaking it a bit, and retrying that I find immensely satisfying. Given this, it's no surprise that a lot of my hobbies are related to making different things (cooking, 3D printing, sewing for starters) and all of them are self taught. 

It's also no surprise that I decided to pursue software engineering. There's an endless amount of different ways to approach a problem, and I'm good at brainstorming, researching, drafting a solution, testing, and doing it all again. Hearing my peers suggestions and unique perspectives is also something I really value, because I frequently had moments where I got stumped and a coworker had an amazing solution I wasn't even aware was a thing. 

In my past positions, I built out full stack client facing features, brainstormed better schemas to organize data in Postgres, optimized our search queries in ElasticSearch, and created aesthetically pleasing (and functional!) front end pieces in React.JS. My experience is diverse, and I'm great at adapting to new technologies, whatever they may be.

My core competencies are Ruby on Rails, Javascript, React.JS, PostgreSQL, Python, Wordpress, and ElasticSearch.

Developed full stack client facing features, including a feature that allows clients to customize and save their user profile. Researched and fixed back and front end performance issues. Tuned Elasticsearch queries to improve search results. Collaborated with customer support on client calls in order to diagnose problems and draft action plans to resolve them.

Maintained and wrote Ruby on Rails rake tasks to extract, transform, and load customer data. Built a feature that let users specify how they wanted their data loaded by exposing inputs to the customers using Javascript and React. Fine-tuned Elasticsearch parameters to improve search results. Led calls with customers, discussing data issues and resolving problems related to the customer onboarding.

Completed several dozens of different tests for several key audits. Created several Excel templates that used formulas to simplify the process, including a unified employee directory and an audit test tracker. Modernized older audit plan templates with more advanced formulas to help automate the auditing process.

Handled data entry, asset maintenance, and cross referenced account amounts between Oracle DB and Excel. Created templates within Excel that used pivot tables and VLookups to streamline and expedite the cross referencing process, cutting down time and errors significantly.
