I also stay involved with the hardware team by driving structural optimization and validation work streams. ### Engineering Manager / Staff Mechanical Engineer @ Figure Jan 2025 – Jan 2026 | San Jose, California, United States My team leads design, manufacturing and test of best in class humanoid robot battery technology. In addition to battery, we contribute to the development of a number of other mechanical systems within the robot. ### Staff Mechanical Engineer @ Figure Jan 2024 – Jan 2025 | Sunnyvale, California, United States Working on torso systems for next generation humanoid robots ### Senior System Product Design Engineer @ Vision Products Group (VPG) @ Apple Jan 2024 – Jan 2024 | Sunnyvale, California, United States Part of an awesome system product design team that owned the architecture for a next generation vision product. Owned the implementation of a challenging sensor package with optical, mechanical and ergonomic considerations. Contributed to design sprints of overall component and mechanism packaging to meet highly challenged and evolving industrial design requirements. ### Engineering Manager, Product Design @ Special Projects Group (SPG) @ Apple Jan 2021 – Jan 2024 | San Jose, California, United States Built, managed, and led the pack product design team (6 direct reports) to develop the 9th and 10th generation battery pack assembly resulting in industry leading performance in volumetric and gravimetric packaging efficiency, mass, cost, and safety. Facilitated pack team DRIs to design, release, and manufacture pack subsystems. This included 200+ total custom unique parts (each requiring 3D + 2D drawings and component manufacturing). Subsystems ranged from complex enclosure weldments, heat exchangers, cell stacks, cell monitoring boards, bus bars, trays, harnesses, power distribution assemblies, and battery management system PCBAs. Worked with advanced manufacturing team and overseas vendors to develop novel components and final assembly manufacturing methods to complete the 9th generation pack builds. Ensured design compliance with mechanical, electrical, thermal and environmental requirements via analysis, testing and model correlation. Worked with broader team to optimize pack to product system integration and mechanical + electrical interfaces. ### Architectural Lead, Product Design @ Special Projects Group (SPG) @ Apple Jan 2019 – Jan 2021 | San Jose, California, United States Interfaced with the broader product design group to determine the best overall pack architecture (key technology selection, external mechanical envelope & interfaces) based on full system trade-off studies. Led the design, optimization, integration and, manufacturing of the 7th and 8th generation battery pack assembly. Led the pack team to execute on the chosen architecture including concept generation, 3D and 2D CAD development, DFM/DFA, analysis, optimization and DVP&R plan execution. Led the pack team to work with a number of domestic and overseas vendors to manufacture the pack for 2 major builds. ### Senior Mechanical Engineer, Product Design @ Special Projects Group (SPG) @ Apple Jan 2015 – Jan 2019 | San Jose, California, United States Owned the design, development, and manufacturing of the thermal system, cell monitoring system (voltage and temperature) and battery management PCBAs for the 1st, 3rd and 5th generation battery pack assemblies. Achieved all key requirements including 20-minute 10 to 80% fast charge. Executed extensive design trade off studies to select technology and optimize key performance metrics. Developed the 3D & 2D CAD using GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFM and DFA Worked with thermal analysis CFD specialists and mechanical FEA specialists to optimize design. Worked with EEs to develop mechanical layout of complex PCBAs and electrical distribution hardware. Developed and executed DVP&R test plans to ensure design meets requirements Managed multiple vendors (domestic and overseas) to develop novel constructions using brazing, welding, injection molding, over-molding, CNC, and adhesive dispense manufacturing processes. ### Lead Mechanical Design Engineer @ Alloy Product Development Jan 2009 – Jan 2015 | San Francisco, California, United States Provided mechanical engineering design consultancy services for 9 products (6 of which went to MP).
