# Norton P. > Deep Learning @ NVIDIA Location: Seattle, Washington, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/norton Not interested in a new position. Things I like to do: - Rewriting Python in C and making it callable in Python for performance reasons - Building RESTful APIs (and dashboards) in Django - Solving problems that could be rephrased as MDP or POMDP problems - Solving zero-sum problems - Using statistical models to describe data (in Stan) - Using BERT to solve basic NLP problems and wondering how it's so good at what it does - Programming the tm4c1294ncpdt and seeing how hot I can make the board - Supporting the researchers with internal tools and infrastructure ## Work Experience ### Senior Software Engineer @ NVIDIA Jan 2023 – Present | Seattle, Washington, United States Designing & building a suite of Python tools to assist admins and engineers deploy a hardware agnostic Slurm 22 cluster. Clusters must support a myriad of permutations of pre-release GPUs, operating systems, CPUs, drivers, vbios, etc. These internal clusters are commonly used by internal teams such as TensorRT and DLSim. ### Software Engineer @ NVIDIA Jan 2020 – Jan 2023 | Seattle, Washington, United States - Built a pipeline to allow GPU tracing software to run on Kubernetes clusters (originally SLURM) - Built infrastructure to record GPU/CPU/System performance data of deep learning inference - Connected a react + elasticsearch powered dashboard to MLPerf and TensorRT team DL performance pipelines to track neural networks performance over different chip/driver combinations - Created a tool to classify DL networks given topology + determine category of DL network (E.g. NLP, CV, etc) - General internal tool software quality upgrades - Create and maintain microservices that communicate with SLURM & other internal tools. - Prototype dashboards in streamlit/jupyter notebooks and develop them into React Apps - Developed major components of a Python CLI toolchain to deploy slurm 22 to empower other engineers to test the latest and greatest ML Models on the latest and greatest GPUs. ### Assistant Instructor @ Code Fellows Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 | Greater Seattle Area Assistant Instructor for the Code Fellows 201 Class ### Software Developer Apprentice @ Microsoft Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 | Redmond, Washington, United States Migrate Azure Cloud Service application models to Virtual Machine scalable set models on Microsoft Azure ### Software Developer @ OrbSense Technologies LLC Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 | Greater Seattle Area Built Django apps with RESTful APIs and deployed them to IBM Bluemix and Amazon AWS. ### Contractor @ GESi Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 | Redmond, Washington Automated Windows 10 customization for over 1000 Microsoft Surface Devices for the Microsoft CXO event using Python; Reduced company costs for event by 50%. ### Substitute Teacher @ Childhaven Jan 2015 – Jan 2016 | Greater Seattle Area Unrelated to my current field, but I credit this environment for defining most of my character. It was here where I provided neglected and abused kids and infants with love and care. ### Full Stack Intern @ Helpful Human Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 | Greater Seattle Area Learned about Git workflow, MVC models and built fullstack applications using Laravel on PHP with an Angular front end. ### Preschool Teacher @ Trinity Lutheran Church Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 | Greater Seattle Area Carefully monitored children's play activities and maintained a sanitary learning environment. ### Contractor @ GESI Jan 2014 – Jan 2015 | Redmond, Washington Unloaded, Imaged, Inventoried and loaded tech for shipping and shows. ## Education ### Bachelor's degree in Computer Science & Engineering University of Washington Jan 2018 – Jan 2020 ### Associate’s Degree in DTA-AA Edmonds College Jan 2016 – Jan 2018 ### Certificate in Advanced Python Software Development Code Fellows Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/nortonpengra - Website: http://qwergram.github.io --- Source: https://flows.cv/norton JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/norton/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-22
