# Nouru M > Software Engineer @ Uber | Google CodeU Alumni | Forbes 30 under 30 Scholar Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/nouru I like building software to solve interesting problems and I enjoy being pushed outside of my comfort zone. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer II @ Uber Jan 2021 – Present | San Francisco Bay Area ● Backend engineer on the Rider Ads team ### Software Engineer Intern @ Uber Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 | San Francisco Bay Area ● Built and deployed a brand new microservice which is now at the core of the Transit team architecture. Service was written on the tech stack (Golang, Protobuf over gRPC, Fx for dependency injection, and YARPC for service discovery. ● Designed and built out a new web configuration tool to allow the Uber Transit team to seamlessly configure fare rules and subsidies for multiple Uber Transit products at the same time. This made the process of setting up new Transit partnerships much faster. ●Worked as Full stack Eng interacting with technologies of the likes: - FrontEnd: React, Apollo, graphQl, redux, Apollo Cache, Yarn, etc. This was my first time doing FE work btw. - Backend: Goland, Kafka, Cassandra, Thrift, gRPC with protobuf, CI and CD tools, and experience with logging and monitoring tools. ### Software Engineer Intern @ Uber Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | San Francisco Bay Area Worked on Uber's core communication delivery platform team, migrating some of the SMS service functionality to the latest tech stack in just 7 weeks :) ### Google CodeU Alumni (Software Engineering) @ Google Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | Mountain View Worked on a team of 4 to develop an optimized location-based hobby matching web app. Built Java servlets and datastores that run on maven to support a webchat framework hosted on Google App Engine. Built features like sentimental analysis tool that makes use of Google cloud natural language processing API to be able to detect and take down abusive messages on the platform. Developed an Image processing feature that is able to classify different images sent between users and make recommendations between users seamless. ### Career Prep Fellow (Software Engineering) @ Uber Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | San Francisco Worked independently to develop an optimized path planner that predicts the fastest way to a destination coordinate. ### Forbes Under 30 Scholar @ Forbes Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | Greater Boston Area - Handpicked from a pool of 1000+ applicants to participate in the 2018 Forbes Under 30 Summit. ### Founder @ smartCity Jan 2017 – Jan 2018 | Vancouver, Canada Area SmartCity was a travel App that provided users with personalized and well-matched travel and hangout suggestions to help them explore cities in a fun and unique way. SmartCity app also allowed users to track and share their travel history with friends and family, making it easy to recommend the unforgettable vacation spot you went to last summer. ### Self Driving Car Engineer (Student) @ Udacity Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | Mountain view Learned how a computer sees an image, and how we can use machine learning to teach a computer to identify images programmatically. I also learned how different data structures (in particular, graph data structures) and search algorithms can be used to write an algorithm which uses a map and traffic information to find the quickest route between two points. Furthermore, I learned core self-driving car technologies such as object detection, path planning, Convolutional neural networks, supervised deep neural network training methods such as backpropagation and more. ### Technical Content Writer @ GeeksforGeeks Jan 2017 – Jan 2018 | San Francisco Bay Area I Write solutions to different data structures and algorithm problems mainly in C++ and help readers prepare for technical interviews. I Write easy-to-understand user interface text and developer guides. I also contribute to online courses provided on geeks such as introduction to machine learning. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Computer Science Alcorn State University Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 ### Bachelor of Applied Science - BASc in Computer Science Foothill College Jan 2017 – Jan 2019 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/nouru --- Source: https://flows.cv/nouru JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/nouru/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-22
