# Omar Ashraf Abdelwahab > Partner Engineer - Generative AI (Llama Stack and Llama api) @ Meta | Gen AI and ML Strategy | Technical Go to Market | Product Focused Engineer Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/omarashrafabdelwahab I’m a product-focused engineer with a passion for building meaningful AI products that bridge technology and impact. Over the past 7+ years, I’ve worked across the intersection of Generative AI, product strategy, and ecosystem development — helping launch and scale products that enable developers, partners, and enterprises to innovate with AI. At Meta, I led partner integrations and go-to-market efforts for the Llama Stack, shaping how ISVs and channel partners bring Gen AI capabilities to market. My work with LangChain and channel partners like Red Hat and Dell helped drive ecosystem adoption and streamline developer onboarding for AI solutions. Previously at Samsung Research America, I worked with product and engineering teams on NLU model strategy for Bixby, leading cross-functional programs and aligning ML model development with user experience and product goals. I enjoy translating complex technical concepts (LLMs, model architectures, APIs) into clear product decisions — defining roadmaps, prioritizing features, and driving adoption. My approach blends technical depth (PhD in Computer Science) with product management training (Master of Engineering Management, Duke University). Areas of focus: Product Management • Generative AI • AI/ML Strategy • LLM Platforms • Product Roadmaps • Go-to-Market Execution • Cross-Functional Leadership • LangChain • Llama Stack • Product-Led Growth ## Work Experience ### Partner Engineer - Generative AI (Llama Stack and Llama API) @ Meta Jan 2025 – Present | Menlo Park, California, United States • Forward-deployed engineering role driving adoption and go-to-market of Llama Stack with partners, ISVs, and channel ecosystems. • Drove partner integrations by leading the adoption of Llama Stack with Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), pairing them with channel partners to expand distribution and accelerate ecosystem adoption. • Enabled ecosystem tooling by leading the Llama Stack integration with Lang Chain, contributing directly to the langchain-llamastack repo, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to land the package in Lang Chain’s official GitHub org. • Scaled go-to-market impact by delivering technical enablement sessions to channel partners (e.g., Red Hat, Dell), empowering their sales teams to position and sell Llama Stack-based solutions to enterprise customers. • Shaped product strategy by gathering and synthesizing feedback from partners using Llama Stack, influencing go-to-market plans and feature prioritization for upcoming releases. • Accelerated developer adoption by authoring technical documentation for Llama Stack’s anticipated V1 release, reducing onboarding friction and improving troubleshooting for developers. • Partnered with product and GTM leadership by contributing to strategy discussions with Llama Stack’s product managers and go-to-market teams, aligning roadmap and partner priorities. • Bridged engineering and business needs by participating in weekly engineering syncs with key channel partners, mapping requirements that blocked adoption, and driving prioritization for General Availability (GA) readiness. ### Member (Angel Investor) @ Duke Capital Partners Jan 2024 – Present • Duke Capital Partners is Duke University’s Venture Capital Arm. • As a Duke Capital Partners member, I get to invest in Duke affiliated startups. Invested in startups like Reselute (Series A) SiPhox Health (Post Series A bridge round), restor3d and Liquid AI (Series A). ### Angel Squad Member @ Hustle Fund Jan 2025 – Present | San Francisco Bay Area ### Staff Software Engineer - Machine Learning and NLP Research (Bixby) @ Samsung Research America (SRA) Jan 2023 – Jan 2025 | Mountain View, California, United States • Performed Technical Program Management duties for the Bixby NLU team to deliver a key program. • Gave daily updates on behalf of the NLU team to Samsung’s EVP during the program. • The NLU team updates facilitated cross-functional collaboration as the daily standups were attended by Bixby tech leads and the head of Bixby North America, who based their decisions on the NLU team’s updates. • Issued Jira Tickets, updated ticket statuses and helped with coordination between members of the NLU team. • Coordinated cross-functionally with the language engineering, product and programs teams to facilitate communication, remove blockers, eliminate unnecessary dependencies and report on team’s status. • Fine-tuning LLM models for internal testing and prototyping. • Performed Data Modeling tasks to better represent the NLU data used for training NLU models. The task involved representing relationships between persons, organizations, media content, programs and more entities. • Contributed to the product feature strategy by refining the PRD requirements with Bixby Product Managers. • Acted as a liaison between the NLU team and Bixby’s product team. • Designed the newer version of how utterance slots (token-level labels) and goals (sentence level labels) are labeled after modeling NLU data to efficiently handle the anaphora resolution problem in follow-up utterances. • Developed NLU system architectures in collaboration with the NLU team lead and Senior Engineers. • Coded Machine Learning prototypes and POCs to test system components against the PRD requirements. ### Senior Software Engineer - Machine Learning and NLP Research (Bixby's NLU team) @ Samsung Research America (SRA) Jan 2018 – Jan 2023 | Mountain View, California • Presented examples of an uncovered use case pertaining to verbless content title search for movies and TV shows. Utterances containing content titles only were not handled as users had to add a verb with the title. • Cooperated with team to cover the ‘verbless named entity” search use case that resulted in covering searches like “game of thrones”. • Improved Bixby’s response success rate by developing initial scripts for integrating movie and tv show data in a structured framework. • Provided data insights to Product Managers to ship and launch new features and products. • Partnered with the product team to review product PRDs and refine requirements. • Communicated technical solutions to senior Bixby leadership for securing future project funding. • Managed the NLU team for two weeks while our team leader was away. During that period, I attended Tech Leads meetings, reported to the Head of Bixby, coordinated daily stand-ups, and removed any blockers facing our Engineers so they could focus on their projects. • Designed future NLU architectures presented to Bixby’s senior leadership. • Collaborated with the NLU team leader and senior engineers to set the NLU team’s 2023 Product Vision. • Performed data analysis on failure data uncovering the main reason behind no-response failures, which helped develop a solution that lowered the no-response failure rate. • Developed data processing scripts needed for structuring raw data, later used for training and testing various machine learning models; resulting scripts saved data cleaning and processing times. Trained Deep Learning based question answering engines. ### Graduate Research And Teaching Assistant @ University of Louisville Jan 2012 – Jan 2018 | Louisville, Kentucky Area • Acting Product Manager/Developer responsible for developing an App for Kindred Healthcare’s investigators to log findings and access data with ease. • Collected requirements from stakeholders and designed the initial user interface. • Handled feature prioritization, tested the first App version, and communicated goals and milestones for the team. • Developed internal reporting tools, facilitating the knowledge transfer for Dean, Associate Deans, and senior school leaders to enable smooth decision-making. • Lead daily stand-up meetings with Speed School of Engineering’s CIO/IT Director. • Co-managed the University of Louisville’s ITech Zone, offering tutoring services in Math, Computer Science and a space for students to study and collaborate. • Collected student feedback about the ITech Zone’s services to better instruct tutors. ### NLP/Machine Learning Intern @ 3M Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Washington D.C.
