In my role as Senior Engineer on the Consumer Platform team, I’ve tackled some of the most ambitious and high-impact challenges at our company—frequently working with vague requirements and complex systems to deliver tangible results. Leveraging a diverse tech stack (Ruby on Rails, Kotlin, Next.js, event buses, and queueing systems), I led architectural discussions and designed scalable frameworks that underpin core consumer features across our entire organization.
One of my most significant contributions has been championing our cross-sell initiative, which enabled multiple new products—including a new product auto secured personal loan—to be offered through a single intake process. This project demanded close collaboration with engineers and leadership company-wide and ultimately helped drive a nearly 100% increase in earnings over the past year. I also spearheaded the development of our consumer profile system, allowing us to maintain real-time, accurate customer data and streamline user flows—resulting in higher conversion rates thanks to smarter, prefilled applications.
Throughout these endeavors, I’ve worked closely with our Head of Product and engineering leaders from every function, aligning on strategic objectives and ensuring our solutions are both innovative and robust. It’s been a rewarding experience to see how tackling large, often ambiguous problems head-on can produce company-wide impact, all while refining the architecture that supports our most critical products.
As a founding engineer on the Small Dollar Loans team, I’ve been hands-on from day one—guiding the product from a blank slate to becoming the highest-volume offering in our portfolio. I championed the core architecture that not only powers our day-to-day operations but also sets the stage for rapid innovation and scalability.
A key highlight of my work has been the design of our approach to integrating Plaid Assets into our machine learning pipeline. By overseeing how data is pulled, stored, and seamlessly fed into the model, I helped pave the way for deeper insights and smarter decision-making across the organization. Beyond my architectural contributions, I’ve also served as a mentor and team lead, guiding fellow engineers through complex initiatives and ensuring that our solutions remained both robust and user-focused.
Reflecting on this journey, what stands out most to me is the sense of ownership and pride that comes from building something that truly makes a difference—an innovative lending solution that has scaled beyond our expectations and continues to shape the future of our company.
