Hi! My name is Palini and I'm a software engineer and Cornell graduate with a diverse technical background in site-reliability engineering, graphics programming, and full-stack development. I currently work for Looker as a full-stack software engineer.
Associate Software Engineer on the Observability&Performance team working on all components of Sprout's infrastructure with a focus on our observability tooling. Key contribution areas:
I've worked on all parts of our logging pipeline, through both regular maintenance tasks and improving its overall efficiency. I worked with my team to horizontally scale Logstash, reducing the load on the main host by almost 60%. I also led the task of migrating our ElasticSearch cluster to OpenSearch, and utilized dynamic templates to implement a robust index management policy that prevented field mapping conflicts. In addition, I regularly tackle maintenance tasks to keep our logging pipeline running smoothly.
I'm comfortable managing core parts of our infrastructure with the software listed above. I monitor performance of our key services and assess whether resource/usage limits need adjustment.

Monitoring Tools (Datadog/Grafana/Sentry)
I've worked extensively with Datadog to create useful dashboards that provide engineers valuable insight into how different system components are performing, and to build monitors that track the golden signals while being actionable and precise. In particular, I built out a dashboard to track memory and CPU usage at the pod-level for services running on Kubernetes, providing visibility into how a single process is utilizing system resources. I also configured Unified Service Tagging for all of Sprout's services, allowing engineers to tie together Datadog telemetry.
