A tech lead on Coda Packs (i.e., plugins/extensions), building an "app store" in Coda to democratize the power of technology.

Created the eng teams making all web apps & APIs across the 4 products. Created the role & team of Business Intelligence Engineers to adapt eng platforms to customers’ needs. 

Hired ~10 engineers, recruited 7, managed 2 teams at a time (~12 total reports). Coached many engineers to higher levels. Mentored new managers. 

Created eng guild org structures for cross-product & cross-functional vision & execution. Enabled new product launches with minimal staff in under 3 months, with rapid iteration that delighted customers.

Fostered psychological safety & constructive conflict within and amongst teams by promoting a feedback culture, e.g., in team retrospective meetings. Set OKRs to clarify ambiguous goals, commit to decisions, and measure progress. 

Set company’s web/API architectural vision (twice, b/c pivot). A customizable analytics platform, then a microservices environment. Filled team technical gaps while hiring. Supervised eng work to ensure stability, performance, & security. 

Managed an entire line of business with a cross-functional skeleton crew (~10 engineers & analysts). Built & launched the first web app from an HTML prototype. Architected the company website nuna.com and managed it in production.

2nd engineer/founding team, 1st eng manager, helped grow Nuna to almost 200 people.

### Software Engineer @ Google
Jan 2004 – Jan 2014
Led 15 engineers to rewrite orkut.com web server to scale to 2 billion requests per day (a top 10 global web site) with stateless parallel servers and async RPCs. Built chat integration, internationalization, user-input HTML sanitization, and cross-iframe communication for embedding 3rd party apps. 

Created a new real-time social app from scratch, recruited 6 engineers, gained 1k+ internal users before cancellation from new company strategy.
