Depending on who's asking, I am a creative coder, data visualization specialist, front-end web developer, and/or data journalist. 

I spent several years as a PhD candidate doing data visualization research in the context of bioinformatics and natural language programming.

I left academia for a job at The New York Times, building a wide variety of full-stack newsroom tools, as well as a couple published articles.

I then moved to the graphics team at Bloomberg News, where I help produce weird and exciting news graphics on a variety of topics.

In 2023 I moved to the Flatiron Institute, helping computational researchers build web-facing data analysis tools.

Most recently, I joined Vercel as a Software Engineer on the Growth team. 

In all cases, I write a lot of JavaScript, and I enjoy projects that involve large quantities of interesting data.
